Da Nang established a team to implement the Semiconductor and Microchip Project.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has just issued Decision No. 460/QD-UBND on the establishment of two teams to implement the project "Development of semiconductor chips and integrated circuits in Da Nang City": the Working Group and the Consulting Group. This decision replaces Decision No. 2855/QD-UBND dated December 25, 2023.

Accordingly, the Task Force for researching, developing, and coordinating the implementation of the Project "Development of Semiconductor Chips and Integrated Circuits in Da Nang City"; advising and proposing mechanisms and policies for the development of integrated circuits and semiconductors in the area is headed by: Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City; Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Department of Information and Communications (DIC), as Standing Deputy Head; and two Deputy Heads: Mr. Le Duc Vien, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, and Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment.

The Da Nang city government is actively calling on leading global semiconductor and integrated circuit companies to invest in the city.

The Advisory Group is tasked with providing advice, feedback, and input on the content of the "Development of Semiconductor Chips and Integrated Circuits in Da Nang City" project and related policies for the development of integrated circuits and semiconductors in the city. The City People's Committee invited Dr. Nguyen Thien Nghia, Deputy Director in charge of the ICT Industry Department - Ministry of Information and Communications, to be the Group Leader; and Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, to be the Permanent Deputy Group Leader.

The Task Force is responsible for advising and assisting the Da Nang City People's Committee in coordinating, developing, and implementing the "Development of Semiconductor Chips and Integrated Circuits in Da Nang City" project and implementing solutions for developing the semiconductor and integrated circuit industry in the city; researching and proposing policies and strategies for the development of semiconductors and integrated circuits in the city; and proposing policies to attract investment, research, and training of high-quality human resources to develop the semiconductor chip industry in Da Nang City.

Simultaneously, research mechanisms to attract leading experts in the field of microchips and semiconductors to Da Nang to transfer knowledge and experience through various forms such as investment cooperation, short-term and long-term work, linkages in training and scientific research, or participation in events, conferences, and seminars in the city; research and propose the addition of microchips and semiconductors to the investment and lending areas of the City Development Investment Fund; advise and assist the City People's Committee in implementing the contents and targets of the Project and developing an implementation plan; organize inspections, monitoring, and urging the implementation of the Project's tasks; advise on funding sources to improve the effectiveness of the Project; advise on preliminary and final reviews, adjustments, and additions to the Project's contents to suit the practical situation of each stage.”

The members of the Task Force work on a part-time basis. The Head of the Task Force decides on the assignment of tasks to the members and uses the unit's seal in handling the Task Force's work. The Deputy Head of the Task Force uses the seal of the agency where they work to issue documents of the Task Force. The operating budget of the Task Force is guaranteed by the state budget as prescribed.

The Advisory Group is tasked with assisting the Da Nang City People's Committee in providing advice and feedback on the content of the "Development of Semiconductor Chips and Integrated Circuits in Da Nang City" project and related policies and guidelines for the development of the semiconductor and integrated circuit industry in the city; and participating in expert conferences and seminars of the city related to the development of semiconductors and integrated circuits.

The team leader decides on the assignment of tasks to team members and uses the unit's seal in handling the team's work. The deputy team leader uses the seal of their employing agency to issue documents of the Advisory Team. The operating budget of the Advisory Team is guaranteed by the state budget as prescribed.
