Da Nang attracts 25 semiconductor and integrated circuit businesses.

From the initial 8 businesses, the semiconductor ecosystem in Da Nang has expanded to 25 businesses, participating in diverse stages from packaging to testing.

On August 30th, Da Nang city organized the Da Nang Semiconductor Chip Day 2025, a key event within the framework of the Da Nang Finance and Technology Week.

According to the Chairman of Da Nang City, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Da Nang is the first locality in the country to pioneer the selection of a day dedicated to the semiconductor industry, affirming the city's aspiration and vision for development in this field.

Following the first "Da Nang Semiconductor Day" held in 2024, Da Nang city has made significant progress in the field of semiconductors across four aspects: policy, infrastructure, human resources, and investment attraction.

From the initial 8 design companies, the semiconductor ecosystem in Da Nang has now expanded to 25 businesses, participating in diverse stages including packaging and testing.

Many large domestic and international technology companies and corporations have invested in and implemented projects in Da Nang, affirming the city's attractiveness and position on the Vietnamese semiconductor map.

Regarding training activities, to date, eight universities and colleges have officially enrolled 600 students in semiconductor microchip programs in 2024; the total is expected to reach 1,000 students in 2025, contributing to the realization of the goal of developing a workforce of 5,000 high-quality personnel by 2030.

In addition, Da Nang City has also implemented 6 training courses for more than 255 lecturers and students in the area, demonstrating practical and sustainable steps in human resource development.

2025 marks a significant milestone for Da Nang's semiconductor industry as VSAP-LAB Joint Stock Company launches the Advanced Packaging Technology Production Laboratory Project (Fab-Lab) with a total investment of over 1,800 billion VND.

This is a pioneering model in Vietnam, with a projected production capacity of 10 million products per year, serving both domestic and international markets. The field of integrated circuits and semiconductors is developing rapidly in Da Nang city.

According to the Chairman of Da Nang City, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are important growth drivers for the country's upcoming era.

In particular, semiconductor chip technology is identified as one of Vietnam's 11 strategic technology sectors, focusing on strategic technology products including specialized chips, AI chips, and IoT chips.

Da Nang City has issued a plan for the development of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors, setting a goal to make Da Nang one of the top three centers nationwide for semiconductor design and artificial intelligence applications by 2030.

Simultaneously, a network for training high-quality human resources and an innovation ecosystem will be established in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries.

Specifically, the plan focuses on developing at least 5,000 high-quality personnel in the semiconductor field; establishing at least 30 design companies, 2 packaging companies, and at least 5 startups in the semiconductor sector.

The Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2025 event attracted the participation of many experts, scientists, and businesses to exchange ideas on market development trends and new technologies in the electronics, transistor, and photonics industries; and to promote cooperation in research and development, and commercialization of products in the fields of advanced packaging and integrated photonics systems.

Simultaneously, it creates a forum for sharing and transferring experiences in building and operating national and institutional-level semiconductor laboratories at public universities; connecting end-to-end supply chains; thereby aiming to improve the quality of training, research and development, and gradually master the technology.
