According to the Da Nang City Center for Disease Control (CDC), the vaccination campaign was carried out at 372 primary schools across the city, with more than 35,000 second-grade students included in the vaccination list.
In addition, 28 7-year-old children who do not attend school but reside locally or are transient were also listed.
Vaccination sites are set up right at schools for the convenience of students. Children who do not attend school will be vaccinated at ward or commune health stations or mobile vaccination sites in remote areas.
Before each vaccination session, the health station coordinates with the school, residential group and population collaborators to review the list of children, prepare facilities and medical staff.
A representative of the CDC Da Nang said that the vaccination program will last until the end of 2025 to ensure that all children of all ages are safely and fully vaccinated.
The city aims to achieve a vaccination rate of over 90% for children over 7 years old, aiming to maintain sustainable community immunity and prevent the risk of re-outbreaks of diphtheria and tetanus.
Parents are advised to proactively follow notifications from schools and local health stations, take their children to get vaccinated on schedule to ensure their children's rights and health, and contribute to the city's maintenance of the community's "shield" of immunity.
The health sector notes that the tetanus-diphtheria vaccine should only be given to children 7 years of age or older who have not received 5 doses of diphtheria-tetanus vaccine or a similar vaccine within the past month. Do not give the vaccine to children with a history of hypersensitivity to vaccine components.
