Congress of the Vietnam Association of Photographers in Yen Bai province, term 2024

(NADS) - On the morning of December 15, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) in Yen Bai province held its 4th Congress for the 2024-2029 term. VAPA Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the VAPA, attended and directed the Congress.

Also attending were: Artist Vu Manh Cuong, Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists in charge of the Northern Mountainous Region; painter Nguyen Dinh Thi, former Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial Literature and Arts Association; writer Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen, Vice Chairman in charge of the Yen Bai Provincial Literature and Arts Association.

Also attending the Congress were representatives of the specialized branches of Yen Bai province's Literature and Arts Association; the Editorial Board of Yen Bai Literature and Arts Magazine and staff of the Association's Standing Office along with all members of the Association.

During the past term, the Vietnam Association of Vietnamese Artists in Yen Bai province has focused on strengthening and developing the organization. Up to now, the Association has 21 members, including 10 members of the Vietnam Association of Vietnamese Artists and 11 members of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts. Although the members of the Association are working in many different fields and professions, they always prioritize and arrange time to nurture their passion for writing, actively go to write in remote areas, to the most difficult places in and outside the province such as: Ta Chi Nhu, Ta Xua of Tram Tau district; Lung Cung in Mu Cang Chai...

The number of works has increased, the quality of works has also made significant progress, shown through the number of works selected to be hung, published, exhibited and won prizes in international, national, regional and local photo competitions and festivals. The authors have invested in good equipment, focused on learning techniques and post-processing methods, especially invested more in ideas and worked hard to explore and create new angles to create artistic photos that both truly reflect reality and have symbolic, metaphorical, and humanistic values that bring not only a sense of image but also create aesthetic and humanistic emotions, guiding viewers to the values of "Truth - Goodness - Beauty".

During the past term, the Association's members won more than 40 awards and medals at provincial, regional, national and international competitions; many works were selected to participate in exhibitions at domestic and international photo festivals and competitions. Notably, during the 2019 - 2024 term, Photographer Thanh Mien was awarded the title E.VAPA (Excellent Photographer), A.FIAP (Photographer) and Photographer Vu Chien was awarded the title ES.VAPA (Dedication Photographer).

The Congress also set out the direction and tasks for the new term, focusing on: building the Yen Bai Photography Association to be increasingly strong in both quantity and quality of creation, linking the task of artistic creation with political tasks; contributing to the development of the province's photography art in particular and photography art in general; promoting the land and people of Yen Bai to friends at home and abroad; meeting the needs of spiritual nourishment and educating the public on "Truth - Goodness - Beauty".

NCLLPBNA Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Association of Fine Arts, delivered a speech directing the Congress.

Speaking at the Congress, NCLLPBNA member Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists acknowledged and congratulated the results the Association has achieved in the past time, and highly appreciated the guidance and special attention and creation of conditions for photography by the Yen Bai Provincial Association of Literature and Arts.

In the past 5 years, the works of the artists and photographers have been selected to participate in over 60 exhibitions in and outside the province. This is not only the result and creative achievement of the authors but also helps the province spread and strongly promote the image of Yen Bai land and people throughout the country and the world .

Emphasizing the spirit of solidarity and the strong development of young creative forces as one of the great achievements that helped Yen Bai photography rise in recent years, Artist Ho Sy Minh hopes that in the coming time, artists will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and the achieved results, electing a new Executive Committee of the Association with enough talent, passion and enthusiasm, especially the ability to gather and unify the team to lead the Association to continue to develop further, contributing to the common development of Yen Bai Literature and Arts and the development of Photography nationwide.

With high consensus, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Artists Association of Yen Bai Province for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of three artists. Artist Nguyen Van Mien (Thanh Mien) was elected as the Chairman of the Vietnam Artists Association of Yen Bai Province for the 4th term. At the same time, the Congress elected 5 delegates (4 official and 1 alternate) to attend the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Artists Association for the 2025-2030 term.
