Congress of Delegates of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Spreading the aspiration for strength

Party Secretary and Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam spoke at the Congress of Delegates of the Vietnamese Party Committee in Laos for the 2025-2030 term on April 26.

The 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , term 2025-2030, was held in an atmosphere where the whole country is changing after the reorganization and streamlining of the administrative apparatus at the central and local levels, especially in an atmosphere where all civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are excited about the achievements made in the past time and are preparing to organize many activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic sector.

The Congress is a particularly important political event for the entire diplomatic sector. The first Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summarizes the 5-year implementation of the Resolution of the 28th Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, term 2020-2025, and determines the direction, goals, tasks and solutions for the term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.

With that meaning and importance, I expect the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , term 2025-2030, to be a great success, providing orientations to elevate foreign affairs in the era of growth, building a comprehensive, modern, professional and effective diplomatic sector.

From these orientations, all civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be determined, together with other ministries, branches and people nationwide, to successfully achieve the country's two strategic goals: by 2030, celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, become a developing country with modern industry and high average income; by 2045, celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, become a developed socialist country with high income.

The Party Committee in Laos always clearly identifies the political role and strategic significance of ideological work, Party building, and enhances the sense of responsibility of each cadre, Party member and Vietnamese community in Laos. The implementation of studying resolutions and political and ideological activities is linked to practice, suitable to the specific work and working conditions in the area. Through specialized political activities, commemorative activities, dialogues and regular study, the Party Committee gradually enhances the proactive spirit, political capacity and sense of responsibility of each Party member in performing tasks.

In the current period, in the spirit of innovation, the aspiration to develop a strong country has been strongly spread, contributing to realizing the goal of bringing the country forward in the new era, in line with the expectations of the Party and the people. In Laos, the Party Committee always thoroughly grasps and seriously implements the policies and resolutions of the Party Central Committee and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promoting the leadership role of Party committees at all levels in synchronously, comprehensively and effectively implementing political, diplomatic, security-defense, economic-trade-investment, cultural, educational, scientific and technological tasks... encouraging large and prestigious Vietnamese corporations and enterprises to invest in Laos to actively contribute to the socio-economic development of the neighboring country, fostering the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos; well organizing foreign affairs activities between the two countries, at the same time inspecting and guiding the effective implementation of high-level cooperation agreements and plans between the two Parties and the two countries; Promote and expand cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries, especially localities sharing a border.

At the working session with the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in August 2024, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that in the new era, Vietnamese diplomacy must reach new heights to fulfill new glorious responsibilities, worthy of being the "vanguard", making important contributions to the cause of national construction, development and defense.

In the context of the complex developments in the region and the world, with many potential unstable and unpredictable factors, in order to contribute to the implementation of the above content, the Party Committee in Laos focuses on thoroughly grasping the Party's foreign policy, the direction of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote the work of building the diplomatic sector, building a team of cadres and party members with courage, professionalism and modernity; strengthen research and strategic advice for the Party and State leaders in relations with Laos, bridging and coordinating ministries, branches and localities to improve the effectiveness of cooperation with Lao partners. At the same time, create a breakthrough in economic cooperation, commensurate with the extremely good political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos.

From that situation, in the coming time, the Party Committee will focus on implementing three major orientations. Firstly, promoting the study and implementation of directives and resolutions of the Central Committee and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the practical foreign affairs work in Laos. Secondly, continuing to improve the quality of Party building work in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. Thirdly , promoting the exemplary role, proactive spirit, courage and creativity of the contingent of cadres and party members in advising and implementing political tasks.
