On November 5, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports held a press conference to inform about the contents of the 11th Capital Sports Festival in 2025.
Over the years, Hanoi has always been the leading sports center in the country with a growing sports movement. At the same time, the city has always been the main unit contributing athletes to the national team to compete in international competitions. Therefore, the City Sports Festival is an important occasion for Hanoi to review the results of the capital's sports training and coaching in recent years.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai said: The 11th Capital Sports Festival in 2025 is expected to take place in 42 days (from November 4 to December 15) with 25 competitions in 12 communes, wards and 4 facilities managed by the Department of Culture and Sports.
The 11th Capital Sports Congress continues to affirm Hanoi's leading position in the country in the sports movement for everyone and high-performance sports, creating an important foundation towards the 10th National Sports Congress in 2026.
The Games will be attended by more than 1,000 international and national referees, ensuring the highest level of fairness and professionalism for the competitions. The opening ceremony will be held at the Hanoi Athletics Palace and the closing ceremony will be held at the Cultural House - Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.
The 11th Capital Sports Congress in 2025 will be held at two levels.
The grassroots level (commune, ward) organizes at least 8 sports or more, focusing on sports that are popular with the people such as: Athletics, swimming, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, shuttlecock kicking... along with traditional sports and folk games suitable to local traditions.
Up to now, 125/126 communes and wards in the city have completed the organization of the grassroots congress. Cua Nam ward is the last unit to organize the Sports Congress in the next few days.
At the city level, the 11th Capital Sports Festival in 2025 will take place in November and December 2025, including 25 sports, including: Swimming, athletics, table tennis, football, sports dancing, traditional martial arts, tug of war...
Compared to the 10th Congress, the 11th Capital Sports Congress has increased the number of competitions from 22 to 25, including the addition of modern sports that attract young people such as: E-sports, roller sports, and dance sports. The number of participating athletes increased by about 15%, reflecting the strong development of the mass and professional sports movement.
Professional quality has been improved, organization has become more systematic and professional; many localities have proactively applied information technology in management, scoring and communication.
Through the organization of the Sports Festival, the city hopes to promote the movement from the grassroots, increase the rate of people practicing physical exercise and sports regularly; at the same time, seek out talents in physical exercise and sports to nurture and develop.
