That victory was a great source of encouragement for revolutionary forces and anti-colonial and anti-imperialist movements around the world . President Ho Chi Minh predicted that it would be “a worthy contribution to the national liberation movement”.
Vietnam's victory affirmed the power of justice and the spirit of international solidarity. It was the result of a smooth combination of political and ideological struggle and people's war against an enemy superior in military and technology.
In a memorable speech on Hill 241 in the liberated area of the South on September 15, 1973, Cuban leader Fidel Castro praised “the great lesson you have brought to the oppressed and exploited peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America”, “the immense contributions of the heroic Vietnamese people to all of humanity”.
50 years after the beautiful Spring that brought the country back from the ashes and poverty, Vietnam has once again created a great miracle: Peace , prosperity and justice - something that can only be achieved thanks to the dedication, creativity and solidarity of an entire nation.
