The national scientific conference "50 years of national reunification - the journey towards the era of national development" was jointly organized by the two Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities of VNU-HCM and VNU-Hanoi on the afternoon of April 25, in Ho Chi Minh City.
National scientific conference held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) on the afternoon of April 25
At the conference, Professor Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM), said that the organizing committee received 130 valuable articles from all over the country and recorded nearly 300 registrations, demonstrating deep interest in this meaningful topic.
"50 years is a long enough journey for us to deeply review and evaluate the achievements and lessons learned, and at the same time orient the future. The workshop is an opportunity for us to review the glorious past, evaluate the achievements, exchange and share multi-dimensional perspectives and together build the future. In particular, this is an opportunity to inspire national pride in the younger generation, continuing the career of our ancestors with the younger generation" - Professor Phuong Lan said.
The workshop focused on discussing three main topics of the Great Spring Victory of 1975: Historical significance, epochal stature and everlasting value; factors determining victory and contributions of forces in the resistance war against the US to save the country; opportunities, prospects, orientations, policy solutions and resources to bring the country into an era of growth.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi ), said that from a country that suffered much pain due to war, Vietnam has now risen to become a dynamic developing country with an increasingly high position in the international arena. The aspiration for peace and unification in the past has now become the driving force for all people to join hands to build a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam.
"The spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening and strong will to rise up, fostered by historic victories, continues to be the guiding principle for action in the new development period. To continue that spirit, we need to persevere in independence and self-reliance, strengthen national solidarity, promote science and technology and digital transformation, arouse the strength of the entire people and take the aspiration for peace as the foundation for the development of foreign policy strategy" - Professor Khanh said.
Experts, scientists, managers, teachers and learners attended the workshop.
Dr. Dao Ngoc Anh, a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science - University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi), said that during the 50 years since the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, culture has played a key role and has been given special attention by our Party and State.
"In 1945, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that "Culture lights the way for the nation to go". From 1945 to 1975, under the leadership of the Party, Vietnamese culture created great spiritual strength, contributing to the historic victory in the spring of 1975. After reunification, culture continued to be focused on in the process of building socialism, aiming at the cultural needs of the people" - Dr. Ngoc Anh emphasized.
Experts affirmed that the core values that made the victory in the past are still intact, continuing to guide and motivate Vietnam to step firmly into the era of integration, building a strong and prosperous nation. Many messages emphasized the need for young people to persevere in independence and self-reliance, strengthen national solidarity, promote science and technology, and digital transformation to further develop the country.
