Ha Trong Bach was a student at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted ( Hai Phong ), completing grade 11 in 2015. After that, Bach participated in a student exchange program in the US.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bach's studies were interrupted. At that time, Bach's top priority was to return to Vietnam to reunite with his family. The 9X boy's studies were also interrupted at that time.

In 2024, Bach's mother introduced him to Saigontourist College of Tourism and Hospitality to study culinary arts and cultural subjects at the Tan Phu District Continuing Education Center.
"I chose the Vocational Education and Continuing Education system because I felt it would be difficult for me to return to a specialized school. Being absent from school for too long made it impossible for me to keep up with the current program, but I still had to go to school to complete high school and fulfill my dream of going to university. Only knowledge can make me successful" - Bach expressed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, homeroom teacher of class 12B15, commented that Bach is a student with many dramatic changes. Due to the age gap and different learning environment, Bach was a bit shy and reluctant to talk to people. However, after a while, Bach integrated and became a very enthusiastic "big brother", supporting his classmates.
With a solid foundation in English (IELTS 7.0), Bach was once oriented by his homeroom teacher to join the English gifted student team. However, Bach was more passionate about Math and Chemistry. After that, Bach chose to join the center's Math gifted student training team.
"Recently, Bach won two first prizes in the city-level excellent student contest in math and in the math contest on handheld calculators for the 2024-2025 school year," Ms. Phuong proudly shared.

Talking about the double award, Bach said this was a great pride for him. Previously, in 8th grade, Bach participated in the city’s math competition but only won 3rd prize.
Bach smiled and said: "My dream is to get into Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and later become a math teacher. I hope to pass on the math flame to the next generation."
Director of the Tan Phu District Vocational Training Center, Luu Thanh Tong, said that the center has the function of providing elementary vocational training and linking training at elementary, intermediate, and college levels according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training . Based on those functions and tasks, the center has linked up with the Saigontourist College of Tourism and Hospitality to teach culture to students.
Sharing about Bach's case, Mr. Tong highly appreciated Bach's learning spirit and will to strive. Not only Bach, in recent years, the center has received many older students pursuing their studies. In addition, in the evening, the center also teaches many students who study and work. The common point of the older students is that they are very hard-working and try hard to study.

Mr. Tong explained: "GDTX has no age limit. For example, in high school, students entering grade 10 must be at least 15 years old and at most 17 years old. As for GDTX, students can study at any age, as long as they want to go to school."
The Tan Phu District Continuing Education Center has been the city’s leading Continuing Education unit for many years in terms of quantity and quality of excellent student awards. This year, the center has 105 excellent student awards at the city level, an increase of 32 awards compared to last year.
