General Phan Van Giang and the working delegation inspected the progress of the renovation project of the Provincial Border Guard Command headquarters.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, reported to General Phan Van Giang and the working delegation on some of the unit's achievements in the first 6 months of 2024. Accordingly, the political security situation, social order and safety in the border area of ​​Thua Thien Hue province are basically stable; sovereignty and territory are maintained. The Provincial Border Guard Party Committee and Command have proactively and synchronously deployed border protection measures, managed and firmly protected the territorial sovereignty and national border security, and maintained political security and social order and safety in the two border areas of the province.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the Provincial Border Guard took the lead in detecting, arresting, and handling 17 cases/24 subjects; coordinating the investigation and handling of 39 cases/67 subjects (mainly illegal possession and use of drugs, property theft, illegal gambling...).

The unit has focused on implementing urgent tasks and solutions to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The Provincial Border Guard Command has directed coastal units to strengthen measures to prevent and stop Vietnamese fishing vessels from illegally fishing in foreign waters; strictly inspect and control fishing vessels entering and exiting at river mouths and estuaries. To date, no cases of fishing vessels from the province violating foreign waters or illegally fishing have been detected.

To achieve the above results, the provincial Border Guard proactively did a good job of grasping and forecasting the situation, promptly detecting, combating, preventing and effectively handling situations and incidents occurring on the border and sea areas.

On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang and the working delegation inspected the progress of the construction project to renovate the headquarters of the Thua Thien Hue Border Guard Command; requested the Provincial Border Guard Command to focus on speeding up the progress while ensuring quality and safety so that the project can be completed and put into use soon.

On the same day, Senior General Phan Van Giang and the delegation visited and worked with the Provincial Military Command.

At the working session, after listening to the report of the Chief of Military Region 4 Command and the Provincial Military Command, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang acknowledged and commended the outstanding results and achievements that the Provincial Military Command has achieved in the past time.

The Minister of National Defense expressed his joy and confidence that the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command will continue to make efforts, overcome all difficulties and hardships to excellently complete all assigned tasks, making an important contribution to the province's rapid and sustainable development, soon becoming a centrally-run city.

In the coming time, General Phan Van Giang requested the Provincial Military Command to thoroughly grasp and implement resolutions, directives and orders from all levels. Proactively coordinate closely with forces to grasp the local situation, accurately forecast situations, avoid being passive or surprised, and maintain political security and social order and safety at all times.

To effectively carry out military and defense tasks, General Phan Van Giang requested the provincial Military Command to promote a proactive spirit, organize training tasks well, be ready for combat and drills; and prepare plans, forces and means to participate in the tasks of preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and search and rescue.

Focus on building solidarity and unity, building clean and strong Party organizations, building strong and comprehensive units that are "exemplary and typical". Actively coordinate and effectively carry out mass mobilization work, regularly care for and support the people, especially ethnic minorities, to develop socio-economy, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and stabilize their lives.

On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, and the working delegation visited and inspected the construction quality of the new Command Headquarters of the Provincial Military Command.
