While the consequences of storm No. 13 have not yet been completely overcome, due to the influence of strong easterly wind disturbances in the Central region, from November 15 to 17, Dak Lak province experienced moderate to heavy rain, causing widespread flooding and damage to many houses, properties, crops, livestock... of the people.
Currently, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province is directing departments, branches and localities to deploy many solutions to prevent and combat floods during the peak period in 2025 to reduce damage caused by natural disasters.
Rain and floods cause widespread inundation
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, from 7:00 p.m. on November 15 to 4:00 p.m. on November 17, there was moderate to heavy rain in Dak Lak province, with rainfall measured at stations ranging from 80-200mm, with heavier rain in some areas such as: Ea Ea Ba 536mm; Ea Ly 495mm; Cu Pui 457mm; Yang Mao 343.2mm; Son Thanh Tay 447.4mm; Hoa Phong 347.2mm.
It is forecasted that from the afternoon of November 17 to the afternoon of November 19, there will be heavy to very heavy rain in the communes and wards of the eastern part of Dak Lak province; rainfall in the eastern part of the province will generally be from 200-300mm, in some places over 350mm; warning of the risk of rain intensity greater than 100mm/3 hours; the western part of the province will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the late afternoon and at night.

In the next 6 to 12 hours, floods in the downstream of Ba River will continue to rise rapidly, with the flood peak at Cung Son station reaching 0.50m above alert level 3; at Phu Lam station, the water level will gradually increase and reach 0.30m above alert level 2; in the Srepok River basin, the flood peak is likely to reach alert levels 1 to 2, in some places above alert level 2...
According to a quick report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province, as of 4 p.m. on November 17, 7 houses collapsed and were swept away in Tong Rang A village, Tong Rang B village and Ra Han hamlet, Yang Mao commune; 192 houses were flooded, including 73 houses in Yang Mao commune; 83 houses in Cu Pui commune; and 36 houses in Duc Binh commune.
On the afternoon of November 17, as the water level continued to rise, the possibility of flooding increased, so the local authorities and functional agencies evacuated people to safety. In addition, about 920 houses in Cu Pui commune were at risk of local flooding if the water level continued to rise.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Yang Mao Commune Vo Tan Truc said: In Cham A village, Yang Mao Commune, there are 4 families with 8 people working in the fields, the stream water is too high to cross, they are taking shelter in the field house. On the morning of November 18, the authorities reached these 8 people who were trapped. During the time they were trapped due to rain and flood, the field house area had a guaranteed food supply so people did not go hungry.

In Ea Han village, Yang Mao commune, 4 households were isolated. Local authorities instructed people to move along the route to M'Drak to ensure safety.
Also in Yang Mao commune, heavy rain caused a landslide on a hill in Tong Rang B village, collapsing two houses and putting 23 households in Cu Pui commune at risk of landslides. Local authorities have proactively evacuated people to safety.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province Nguyen An Phu, the floods in the past few days have caused significant damage to production. Specifically, the floodwaters swept away more than 100,000 acacia cuttings, the area of annual crops flooded has not been specifically counted; more than 300 pigs and 4,900 broiler chickens were swept away. Currently, localities continue to count the damage.
Not only causing damage to agricultural production, the rain and floods in recent days have also caused damage to irrigation and traffic works in the area. Specifically, the upstream stream bank of Cu Phiang dam has collapsed for about 40m; the Ra Da Son Phong dam canal has a landslide of 15m long and some canals are buried by soil and sand. Some irrigation works and intra-field canals have been eroded and damaged. Currently, localities are reviewing and synthesizing specific data.

Regarding traffic, according to the report of the Department of Construction, there are 13 flooded points on National Highway 29 causing traffic jams, including: At Km64+800, the flood is 0.5m deep; Km65+900, the flood is 0.7m deep; Km66+00, the flood is 0.3m deep; Km66+400, the flood is 0.7m deep in Son Thanh commune; Km68+600, the flood is 1.1m deep; Km70+300, the flood is 0.6m deep; Km70+500, the flood is 0.6m deep; Km72+300, the flood is 0.5m deep; Km76+600, the flood is 0.5m deep; Km77+160, the flood is 0.6m deep in Duc Binh commune; Km79+580, the flood is 0.3m deep; Km79+640, the flood is 0.5m deep; Km85+300 flooded 0.4m deep, in Song Hinh commune.
In Cu Pui commune, there are 5 locations that are deeply flooded, making it impossible for motor vehicles to circulate. Some roads in Yang Mao commune were flooded and landslides cut off some villages.
Specifically, Provincial Road 12 was flooded, causing the isolation of villages including: Village 1, Yang Han Village, Ea Lueh Village, Nao Huh Village, and Cu Dhiăt Village. The inter-village road from Nhan Giang Village to Mghi Village was isolated by hilly land and could not be used. The internal routes of Ea Han Village, Yang Han Village, and Ea Lueh Village were flooded from 1 to 1.7 meters high, causing isolation and making it impossible for road vehicles to travel, including: Buon Cham A, Village 1, Village 2, Yang Han Village, Nao Huh Village, Ea Lueh Village, and Cu Dhiăt Village...
In particular, the temporary bridge connecting Tong Rang B village with Ea Lueh village was swept away by floodwaters, leaving people unable to cross. The Cu Rang village road had landslides from the hillside, flooding the road, causing traffic jams...

Proactively prevent and limit damage caused by natural disasters
To be proactive in responding to natural disasters in 2025, right before the rainy and stormy season, Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee issued an Official Dispatch on leadership and direction of prevention, response and overcoming of consequences of natural disasters in the province.
The Provincial People's Committee issued a Directive on strengthening prevention and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters in the 2025 rainy and stormy season; and a plan to respond to natural disasters in 2025 in Dak Lak province.
In particular, the key contents, tasks and solutions are identified as monitoring, supervising, informing, leading, directing and operating natural disaster prevention and control according to the 2-level local government model, which is operated continuously, smoothly, promptly and effectively, ensuring absolute safety of people's lives and limiting damage to people's and State's property in the province.
Entering the peak of the 2025 rainy and stormy season, in order to be proactive in responding to natural disasters, protecting people's lives and property, limiting damage to people's and State's property in the province, on October 21, 2025, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province issued Official Dispatch No. 06218/UBND-NNMT on the implementation of natural disaster prevention and control work during the rainy and stormy season.
