Ensuring cybersecurity and digital asset safety on blockchain platform

With the strong development of blockchain technology and digital assets, ensuring security in the digital space has become urgent. Reporters of Tin Tuc and Dan Toc newspaper interviewed Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Head of the Department of Research, Consulting, Technology Development and International Cooperation (National Cyber Security Association) on this topic.

In your opinion, which unit will ensure the safety of digital assets in the coming time when this field is allowed to operate in Vietnam?

Digital space will be similar to real space and requires the participation of state management agencies, associations, organizations and people.

Ensuring safety and security for the system, including conventional information technology systems, blockchain systems or digital asset exchanges, needs to be done on the principle of participation of all parties: from the legal corridor, technology, raising awareness and vigilance to user skills.

With messages from the blockchain cybersecurity forum with the theme "Resilience & Trust in the Digital Future", experts and technology companies analyzed and dissected cyber attacks, vulnerabilities, and damages from real-life situations in 2024 and before.

This is a great opportunity to learn from failures. Through this, we hope that individuals and organizations involved will gain more knowledge, experience and solutions to develop safer and more effective platforms and services.

Do you have any advice for young people participating in blockchain exchanges in Vietnam to avoid risks, sir?

Blockchain is decentralized by nature. However, some exchanges today operate on a centralized model. This creates complexity in the system design, while users need simple tools to use. This discrepancy can create vulnerabilities.

That vulnerability comes from the complexity of the platform, combined with the lack of fully informed users. When owning digital assets, users need to have a certain understanding to choose a safe place to store and trade.

Once you have assets, making the right decisions is important. Therefore, users need to stay calm, not follow the crowd mentality, and should carefully research the platforms and exchanges before depositing their assets.

In your opinion, what will be the role of the Cyber Security Association in ensuring security and safety for blockchain exchanges in the future?

There are four main pillars to focus on: Legal corridor; technology and technology standards; raising user awareness; connecting with international organizations to form an ecosystem.

The Association is participating in all four areas: Consulting and advising management agencies in building legal corridors and related policies; supporting units and businesses in choosing appropriate technology and standards to deploy the system; improving capacity and skills for people, experts and system operators; and the Association plays an important role in connecting with international organizations to share information on cybersecurity warnings and update the latest technology. Thereby, contributing to helping Vietnam's blockchain ecosystem and digital assets develop safely and sustainably.
