Deploying transport drones to storm-affected areas
Due to the complicated developments of storm No. 13 - Kalmaegi with strong intensity, it is likely to make landfall directly from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak.
On November 6, Viettel Group said it had dispatched four forward command groups to Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa to directly operate on the spot, while the remaining areas were under the responsibility of Viettel Provincial Directors.
More than 1,000 technical, electromechanical, transmission and information security officers have been mobilized, divided into 190 BTS teams, 50 electromechanical teams, 170 information security teams and 20 elite transmission teams, ready to mobilize and respond to emergencies according to their assigned areas.
The preparation of materials and equipment was carried out synchronously on a large scale. Viettel added 397 mobile generators to the provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa , ensuring 110% backup capacity for key stations.
More than 1,600 batteries were transferred to more than 1,100 telecommunication stations to maintain stable operations during widespread power outages, along with many satellite phones, handheld radios and 9 mobile broadcasting vehicles that were distributed to key areas, of which Gia Lai alone was reinforced with two transport drones to support the transportation of supplies and relief goods when roads were cut off.
At the same time, Viettel has lowered the load on 236 antenna poles at risk of being unsafe, and completed reinforcement, fuel, supplies and safe shelters for rescue forces.
The National Operation Center (NOC) system in 9 provinces is activated 24/7, updating real-time data, monitoring and coordinating rapid response forces as soon as the storm makes landfall.
Develop a scenario for roaming between carriers
Information from VNPT said that it has mobilized additional self-propelled mobile broadcasting vehicles and containers, field broadcasting stations, along with 50 Inmarsat satellite phones and 31 VSAT-IP stations for provinces in the area affected by storm 13.
At the same time, the satellite transmission system has been activated, ensuring information transmission to serve the direction and operation of disaster prevention work of local authorities in the storm area.
This unit also regularly updates and closely monitors weather developments; proactively deploys information security plans for public and dedicated networks.
Network monitoring and operation have been enhanced to the highest level; roaming scenarios with other carriers and network information security plans have also been activated by VNPT when necessary. VNPT's technical staff has been deployed 24/7 at key stations, and mobile information response teams have been established.
The entire rescue force strictly implemented the "4 on-site" motto to ensure timely operation, coordination and rescue during complicated flood situations.
MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation has also deployed disaster response plans across the entire system to ensure the safety of telecommunications infrastructure and maintain uninterrupted communication for people in areas affected by the storm.
Accordingly, as soon as storm No. 13 appeared, MobiFone activated the response command mechanism. In the technical infrastructure, the broadcasting station system, transmission lines, antenna columns and all level 1 - level 2 sites were checked early. Areas at risk of flooding were installed with equipment protection measures and backup power sources were added.
The overall configuration of the transmission network was reviewed, especially the scenario was built to ensure safety for the trunk and inter-provincial transmission lines. At the same time, this network operator proactively notified and coordinated with infrastructure partners to prepare resources to respond to optical transmission and infrastructure in case of an incident.
At the customer service line, all transaction stores and branches in the affected areas have completed storm prevention. Electrical systems, switching equipment, generators, batteries and UPS have been checked, maintained and ensured to be ready for operation. On-site forces have been deployed in each area, with hundreds of personnel ready to respond in the provinces.
