The rural and agricultural census is one of the three largest statistical censuses, organized every 10 years, to collect comprehensive information on agriculture , forestry, fisheries and the status of rural development.

Because the General Census coincided with the time when the two-level local government started operating, the implementation in the province still encountered certain difficulties such as: The forces participating in monitoring and implementation at the commune level changed between the preparation and actual implementation stages; the specific characteristics of the area after the merger were large, many residential areas were not concentrated, making it difficult for investigators to travel and collect information. In addition, in some areas in mountainous and remote areas, the phone signal and 3G, 4G network were unstable, affecting the progress of the investigation...

Faced with the difficulties, the province promptly and proactively prepared to ensure the next steps were carried out effectively. The Provincial and Commune-level Census Steering Committees were strengthened after the merger, and obstacles were gradually resolved, creating favorable conditions to speed up the investigation progress.

In the province, the census was conducted in 5,011 household survey areas with a total of over 701,300 households surveyed. Of which, nearly 696,700 households were surveyed; over 3,100 households were surveyed in agricultural, forestry and fishery samples; and over 1,100 farms were surveyed. As of July 15, the province had surveyed all households at a rate of over 51%. The progress of the farm survey was slow, reaching about 17% of the plan due to the large area and scattered farms.

Regarding the business and cooperative sectors, the province has over 700 units operating in the agricultural sector. To date, all information from these units has been collected. The survey with the People's Committees at the commune level has been 100% completed.

Comrade Dinh Khac Luyen, Deputy Head of the Department of Agricultural and Social Statistics (Phu Tho Provincial Statistics) said: "The 2025 rural and agricultural census strongly applies information technology in all stages such as using electronic survey forms (except for units under the Ministry of National Defense ) and online data management to control the progress and quality of the survey during the process of collecting information in the area.

Propaganda work is given special attention so that people understand the meaning, rights and obligations in providing accurate, complete and timely statistical information. The active participation and responsibility of people and units have contributed significantly to the initial results of the General Census in the province.

Through the extensive propaganda process, the awareness of people, businesses, and cooperatives about the role and significance of the General Census has been raised. Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia, Director of Tu Xa Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Service Cooperative (Phung Nguyen Commune) said:

“After learning and receiving specific instructions, I realized that the income information of the census will be the basis for the province and the Central Government to issue policies and orientations on agriculture and rural areas in accordance with reality. Those policies will directly impact the production and business activities of enterprises and cooperatives in the agricultural sector. Therefore, cooperatives must declare complete and accurate information, contributing to the overall success of the census.”

To ensure the progress and quality of the General Census, the Provincial Steering Committee for the General Census will continue to implement it according to the proposed plan, strengthen inspection, supervision, and promptly handle any problems arising during the implementation process.
