The Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) informed that all air conditioners under 40,000 BTU have been granted energy label certification.

One of the solutions to use energy economically and efficiently is to choose high-performance products. To promote the market of high-performance household electrical appliances in Vietnam, on the state management side, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has soon implemented the Energy Labeling Program for vehicles and electrical appliances. Products with more stars are more energy-efficient.
Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has granted energy labeling certification for all household air conditioners (
In the near future, when applying the new TCVN standards, the standards for air conditioners to reach 4-5 star level will be raised. This is an important solution to increase the efficiency of electricity use, increase competitiveness and classify products on the market.
At COP28, along with 62 other countries, Vietnam joined the Global Cooling Commitment. Accordingly, Vietnam will join other countries in implementing the target of reducing at least 68% of greenhouse gas emissions from the global cooling sector by 2050 compared to 2022, in order to contribute to keeping the global average temperature increase at 1.5°C and in line with the goal of achieving a global net zero emission by 2050.
To implement the Global Cooling Commitment, one of Vietnam's main solutions and tasks is: Cooling equipment will be converted to high energy efficiency technology, saving electricity costs, using refrigerants with low global warming potential, applying passive cooling solutions, natural cooling... in line with the general trend of the world .
