Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Thanh said that Trinh Hoai Duc is one of the typical cultural figures in Vietnamese history, known for his role as an excellent politician , culturalist, and diplomat under the Nguyen Dynasty. Not only was he talented in pacifying the people and governing the country, trusted by the king and admired by the mandarins, the famous Trinh Hoai Duc also exuded the great personality of a scholar with a simple, noble life, close to the people. He left to posterity a huge cultural and historical treasure, notably the work Gia Dinh Thanh Thong Chi.

“200 years have become history since Trinh Hoai Duc left the officialdom and returned to his ancestors, but his life and career will forever shine and shine. The organization of the death anniversary of the cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc aims to propagate,educate and promote the tradition of remembering the source of drinking water, expressing gratitude and recognizing his merits to the land of Bien Hoa - Dong Nai. Thereby, arousing the revolutionary spirit, national pride, striving to compete, unite, and build the homeland to become more civilized and prosperous,” Mr. Thanh emphasized.

On this occasion, students in Bien Hoa city performed art performances and scenes recreating the life, career and contributions of cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc to Dong Nai in particular and the South in general.

On the same evening, Bien Hoa City People's Committee will organize an art program to commemorate the cultural celebrity Trinh Hoai Duc at Bien Hung Park; simultaneously screen the documentary Trinh Hoai Duc - a man of both literature and martial arts and award prizes for the contest to learn about the historical relic of Trinh Hoai Duc Tomb.
