Crystal Palace beat Man City 1-0 in the 2024-25 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. This is the London club's first major trophy, and brings great excitement to the 2024-25 season when the foggy country's cup competitions are not in the hands of the Big Six (6 strong teams in England). Before Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, Newcastle won the League Cup.

Man City were rated much higher than Crystal Palace before the FA Cup final. Pep Guardiola's team quickly showed that after the opening whistle with an overwhelming game. Under the command of "conductor" Kevin De Bruyne, who played his last match for Man City in the FA Cup, the Manchester team dominated their opponents from London.
De Bruyne gave Erling Haaland an early chance, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson struggling to keep out the Norwegian's volley. Although Man City controlled the game in the first 15 minutes, it was Crystal Palace who successfully exploited the scoring opportunities.
In the 16th minute, in a successful counter-attack, Daniel Munoz broke through on the left wing and passed the ball accurately for Eberechi Eze to volley into the net to open the score. Eze's goal stunned Man City, but last season's FA Cup runner-up had no time to be sad, they quickly rose up to attack and created dangerous situations in front of the opponent's goal.

Crystal Palace defended resolutely, but two unfortunate situations almost ruined their success. In a risky decision, Dean Henderson rushed out of his goal to face Erling Haaland, the ball hit the Crystal Palace goalkeeper's hand but no penalty was given despite VAR checks.
Man City's great pressure caused Tyrick Mitchell in the 33rd minute, in a seemingly harmless situation, he fouled Bernardo Silva in the penalty area. After a moment of hesitation, referee Stuart Attwell decided to point to the penalty spot. Unfortunately for Man City, Omar Marmoush could not beat Henderson from the 11m mark.
In the second half, Henderson continued to prove his irreplaceable role in the Crystal Palace goal. The former Man Utd goalkeeper continued to perform excellent saves, notably blocking Doku's curling shot. Henderson's efforts to protect the goal gave Crystal Palace a chance to double the lead. However, Munoz's goal was disallowed because Ismaila Sarr was in an offside position.

Man City looked uninspired at Wembley. De Bruyne played a precise pass to Nico O'Reilly, but the youngster hesitated in the box, allowing Munoz to save.
After 75 minutes of watching his players play in a deadlock, Pep Guardiola decided to send young player Claudio Echeverri onto the field to refresh Man City's attack. This decision almost brought great results, De Bruyne created an opportunity for Echeverri in the penalty area, but Man City's young talent still could not defeat Henderson.
Crystal Palace had to fight back fiercely in the final minutes of the match, especially in the 10 minutes of added time. Luckily for Graham Potter and his team, Man City did not create many dangerous opportunities, helping Crystal Palace secure the victory. With the 2024-25 FA Cup title, Crystal Palace will participate in the UEFA Europa League next season.
