Evaluation of biomass corn production and processing model in Luc Yen

The biomass corn development model was deployed in Mai Son commune. The planting area is over 4,000 m2 with varieties: CS71, HQ2000, LVN98, TM181... After a period of care, it was shown that the corn varieties are suitable for many types of soil, resistant to diseases and lodging, with a growth period of about 80 days/crop, about 30 days shorter than traditional grain corn production. The level of pest and disease infection is low, and the biomass yield is from 50.2 - 56.8 tons/ha. It is expected that by the end of May, the harvest will be completed and the land will be prepared to continue planting the second crop.

Research results on summer-autumn and winter corn biomass in Mai Son commune show that, despite the influence of unfavorable weather conditions and complex developments, the selected varieties still grow and develop well, are resistant to some major pests and diseases, have high nutritional content and are suitable for local climate and soil conditions. Through model evaluation, people can apply the knowledge learned in corn biomass production to achieve high productivity and quality, thereby promoting and replicating the model in the following years.
