Along with the diversity of ecosystems and biodiversity, Dakrong Nature Reserve is recognized as one of the places with many landscapes to develop ecotourism, resorts, and forest exploration tourism.

Through a survey by the Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board, it is shown that there are currently many streams and creeks that play an important role in balancing the ecosystem in the special-use forest, creating beautiful waterfalls such as Do Quyen 1, Do Quyen 2, ApaCha waterfall, beautiful caves such as Doi cave, Son Thuy cave, Nuoc cave... Besides, local people also preserve the cultural identities, traditional activities of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko people, which have great potential in developing community tourism along with many typical local specialties.

Director of Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board Truong Quang Trung said that the board has made a plan to develop eco-tourism, resorts, and entertainment for the period 2021 - 2030. The orientation is to develop resort tourism, explore natural forest landscapes with a system of waterfalls, streams, and creeks, discovery tourism, adventure tourism, scientific research through multi-day trips through the forest, and community tourism to experience the lives of the Pa Ko and Van Kieu people.

“Developing ecotourism will create opportunities to increase revenue for the Dakrong Nature Reserve Management Board and the local community. This will help improve people’s lives, minimize negative impacts on natural resources in the core zone of the reserve, and contribute to introducing biodiversity, ecological environment, history, and culture to people at home and abroad,” Mr. Trung shared.

Not only in Dakrong Nature Reserve, in terms of ecotourism, Quang Tri has beautiful landscapes of rivers, lakes, mountains and forests, diverse, rich and rare flora and fauna. The highlight is the Ru Linh primeval forest (Vinh Linh district), known as the "green lung" of the Eastern Vinh Linh region with an area of 170 hectares, of which about 100 hectares are still forest.

This is the remaining natural forest in the middle of the plain with a rich and diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna. Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve has Brai Cave, Voi Mep Mountain, Sa Mu Pass, Chenh Venh Waterfall, Ta Puong Waterfall (Huong Hoa District), Tra Loc Mangrove Forest (Hai Lang District)... which are places with natural landscapes that attract the attention of tourists today.

The goal is to call for investment in building the Brai - Ta Puong eco-tourism area at the provincial level, combining resorts, developing community tourism and adventure eco-tourism to soon form a cultural - tourism space with attractive and unique tourism types and products. Along with that is to preserve, promote and develop the values of natural landscapes, ecology and indigenous humanity.

In 2024, the Government issued the Project on developing the multi-use value of forest ecosystems to 2030, with a vision to 2050 (the Project). Implementing the Project in the province, one of the goals set by Quang Tri is to develop community tourism, eco-tourism, sustainable resorts and entertainment activities, focusing on areas with forests, resources and tourism potential.

Promoting potentials and advantages, exploiting the values of natural resources and cultural traditions, expanding types of tourism, paying attention to developing community tourism and rural tourism associated with cultural and historical tourism products... of the local community.

To effectively implement these goals, the province encourages potential forest owners to organize, develop and implement ecotourism, resort and entertainment projects. Promote the development of ecotourism models associated with agricultural, rural and community tourism for ethnic minorities, mountain people and people living in and near forests.

Developing unique and distinctive tourism types and products associated with the natural landscape values of the forest ecosystem, demonstrating regional and inter-regional connectivity, creating tourism products, activities and brands associated with local and geographical traditional culture.
