At these communal houses, there are festivals or communal house worshiping rituals that attract local residents and tourists who want to learn about traditional culture. Looking at reality, after the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, although Tien Giang province has not yet established an agency for tourism activities, spontaneous tourism activities still take place due to the need to visit, sightsee, entertain, and learn about the landscape and people.

For example, during this period, non-governmental organizations, international delegations, especially those from the Soviet Union, China, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Cuba, Romania, Laos, etc. all came to Tien Giang to work and visit Dong Tam Snake Farm, Tan Lap Pineapple Farm, Truong Dinh Tomb, and Ap Bac Relic.
Not to mention, art troupes from the republics of the Soviet Union, from many cities of socialist countries came to perform, exchange and visit the relics. In addition, delegations from many provinces in the country also came to visit and learn about agricultural production experiences, mainly to Binh Tay Cooperative (Go Cong Tay district), Tan Hoi Cooperative (Cai Lay district) ...
One of the highlights of the tourism industry was that in 1982, the Provincial People's Committee decided to establish Tien Giang Tourism Company, but with a small scale of operation, only receiving tourists from socialist countries; of which, tourists from the Soviet Union alone accounted for about 40%.
Statistics show that from 1982 to 1985, the average number of foreign visitors to Tien Giang was only about 3,000 per year, but very few stayed overnight, with exploited tourist attractions such as Dong Tam Snake Farm, Tan Lap Pineapple Farm, Vinh Trang Pagoda, etc.
After many ups and downs, by 1991, the number of international visitors to Tien Giang had skyrocketed, with more than 12,300 arrivals. The number of visitors to Tien Giang was mainly from travel companies in Ho Chi Minh City, brought in under contract, and most of them did not stay overnight. However, by 2000, the number of international visitors to Tien Giang increased rapidly, reaching more than 143,600. And so, the Tien Giang tourism industry continued to reap success until today.
In recent years, the province has focused on developing the tourism industry to exploit its potential and existing advantages to become a spearhead economic sector. Especially after more than 5 years of implementing Resolution 11 dated April 5, 2017 of the Provincial Party Committee, term X on tourism development in Tien Giang province until 2020 and orientation to 2030, the Tien Giang tourism industry has achieved many successes.
Specifically, by the end of 2024, through the implementation of the contents of the Tourism Development Cooperation Program between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; Tourism Development Cooperation Program in the Eastern Mekong Delta in 2024; participation in the Tourism Festival
Ho Chi Minh City 20th; Vietnam International Travel Mart - VITM Hanoi; Southern Traditional Cake Festival 11th...; At the same time, thanks to the positive impact of many policies in tourism recovery, along with the focus on drastic implementation of solutions for tourism development combined with the organization of activities, events, tours, interesting, new and attractive experiences to serve tourists, the number of tourists to Tien Giang in 2024 will reach over 1.65 million; of which, international visitors will be 550 thousand, an increase of nearly 18% over the same period.
Tien Giang Tourism Industry has been and is continuing to implement many effective solutions to develop tourism. In particular, Tien Giang Tourism Industry focuses on strengthening connectivity and tourism development space; exploiting new market segments, bringing higher efficiency, responsibility and environmental awareness; developing typical products, creating differences and forming local brands of Tien Giang province to compete on the basis of exploiting historical and cultural potentials, ecotourism potentials, and sea tourism; synchronously developing the system of facilities and technical infrastructure, creating basic conditions for the success of connectivity strategies, markets and products; developing tourism human resources with a reasonable structure, ensuring quantity, quality, balance in occupational structure and training level, meeting the requirements of competition and integration...
In particular, in order to create conditions and open more space for tourism development, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province organizes the 2nd Tien Giang Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025. This is an activity to promote and communicate the culture and landscapes of the province to domestic and foreign tourists and investors; at the same time, respond to the National Tourism Year 2025; promote the cultural values, history, natural resources, and traditional craft villages of the locality associated with tourism development.
The 2nd Tien Giang Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025 has many important contents such as: Organizing a space to connect culture - tourism inside and outside the province; a space of typical culinary culture of Tien Giang province; introducing river tours... In particular, Tien Giang province also organized a workshop "Promoting the value of historical - cultural relics with tourism development in Tien Giang province.
