Son's daily job here is to count goods, many of which are exported to the US. For more than a year, Son has been employed at GoldenLink Company, which operates in the field of logistics and freight transport. Son is one of the MIC1 alumni selected by employers before graduation.
Building a model vocational education program in the logistics field
MIC1 is one of 16 partner colleges across Vietnam participating in the Aus4Skills Vocational Education and Training (Aus4Skills VET) program, an Australian Government -supported program that delivers industry-led training through an industry-led skills development model.
The above approach results in graduates who are job-ready with the practical skills needed to work in the logistics sector, contributing to Vietnam's economic growth.

Since joining the project in late 2019, over the past 6 years, the school has participated in many capacity building activities such as training courses, workshops, meetings and knowledge exchanges organized by the project. These activities focus on: logistics professional development, competency-based training and assessment (CBTA), leadership innovation, digitalization, quality assurance and inclusion.
Within the framework of CBTA activities, the project supported MIC1 to deploy CBTA modules such as: Receiving and storing goods, packing and shipping goods, forklift operation. These modules were successfully piloted and became models for replication. The program transformed MIC1 from a new logistics training unit into a model vocational education school in the field of logistics.
In particular, the school identified logistics as a breakthrough spearhead for the vision of turning MIC1 into a pioneering training and research center on green logistics and digital logistics by 2045, according to Dr. Do Van Tuan, Principal of Maritime and Waterway College 1.

Thanks to the success of the pilot projects, the school was granted funding to invest in the CBTA training model at the Logistics Center, a practical training facility that has received high praise from international partners.
With an investment of nearly 70 billion VND on an area of nearly 15,000 m2 , the training model at MIC1's second facility was completed at the end of 2023 and put into use in mid-2024. This facility helps to increase the training of logistics students. According to the school's data, the enrollment scale for the logistics program in 2025 is 385 students, an increase of 285% compared to 149 students in the first year of participating in the project in 2019.
Mr. Do Hong Hai, Vice Principal of MIC1, said that the demand for labor in the logistics industry is very high, and is currently the second "hot" industry in the school's recruitment process. Almost 100% of graduates have jobs immediately.

One typical example is Hoang Gia Long, a student of the 51st course majoring in logistics. Long said that during his studies, he had the opportunity to intern at two companies, and is currently an employee of one of them. The internship provides many opportunities to be exposed to reality, as well as practice the skills learned in school.
Mr. Ha Duc Ngoc, a specialist from the Vocational Education Department of the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education under the Ministry of Education and Training, assessed that Australia's vocational training program is generally quite suitable for Vietnam, including the program being implemented by Aus4Skills.
"We still say that businesses are an inseparable part of the training activities of schools, and the Aus4Skills CBTA program especially emphasizes the role of businesses," Mr. Ngoc informed.

Back at GoldenLink’s warehouse, Mr. Tran Minh Duc, Deputy Director of the company, said that customers mainly export to the US, including goods for Walmart and importers from China. Every year, the company exploits more than 200,000 cubic meters of export goods to the US and about 100,000 cubic meters of import goods, as well as a very large number of containers through the yard.
Over the past 4-5 years, the company has had a relationship with MIC1, specifically participating in building curriculum that is close to actual career needs, and welcoming students for internships at a frequency of about 80 students/year. After welcoming more than 300 students, GoldenLink recruited 8 excellent students, of which 2 hold important positions in the company.
According to him, this is a mutually beneficial relationship. The school has the facilities and practical conditions for students to practice, and the company has available human resources during peak times when it needs to expand its recruitment.

Mr. Duc said that the market is currently in great need of workers, warehouse keepers and forklifts, especially in the current Hai Phong market. He recommended that the school should expand its relationship with companies in many different fields to create more environments for students to practice.
In response to the program’s success, Australian Ambassador Gillian Bird said Australia is proud to share its world-leading vocational education and training system with Vietnam, which is helping to drive economic growth. For example, in the logistics sector, logistics companies are operating more efficiently and productively because they have access to more graduates who are practically trained and ready to work.
“After 10 years of investment through the Aus4Skills program, we are pleased to see that more than half of logistics students at some of our partner institutions are female, supporting Vietnam to build a more inclusive workforce for the future, thereby contributing to increased productivity,” said the Australian Ambassador.
