Cycling promotes sustainable, environmentally friendly transportation
On February 16, the "Cycling for the Future" event took place in Ho Chi Minh City, organized by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City's departments, agencies and sectors to spread the spirit of cycling and encourage sustainable transportation in Ho Chi Minh City.

The opening event in front of the City Theater attracted the participation of about 400 people. Notably, there were two young men from the Netherlands, Rick Keijzer (21 years old) and Sven Broekhuizen (25 years old). This "cyclist" duo made many people admire when they completed the arduous challenge of cycling for 343 days with a distance of nearly 20,000 km, crossing 24 countries to get from the Netherlands to Vietnam.

Rick Keijzer and Sven Broekhuizen’s journey was made even more meaningful by the fact that they were teaming up to raise funds for Coop Africa, a charity that provides bicycles to people in Kenya and Uganda to support access toeducation , health care and livelihoods. The cycling journey took them from European cities, the vast steppes of Central Asia to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia, making for a special experience for the two Dutchmen.

Rick Keijzer and Sven Broekhuizen also want to spread the habit of traveling by bicycle to everyone, especially in Ho Chi Minh City because this is an environmentally friendly means of transportation, helping to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and enhance public health.

At the event, Rick Keijzer, Sven Broekhuizen and nearly 400 participants cycled 15 km, starting from the City Theater, passing the Independence Palace, Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral, Ba Son Bridge... in an exciting atmosphere.
