On May 19, Bac Lieu province celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund and awarded scholarships to 400 students, on the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh .
Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, said that during his lifetime, the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet (who also served as Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee) was very interested in the causeof education and training, as well as training human resources to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
"The provincial scholarship fund named after the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet is both an honor and a responsibility for the province and the students who benefit from the scholarships from this fund," he shared.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Que Phuong, Vice President of the Bac Lieu Province Education Promotion Association, in 2014, the province's education promotion fund changed its name to the Vo Van Kiet Education Promotion Fund, with a larger scale to actively contribute to the cause of promoting education, promoting talents, and building a learning society in the province.
Over the past 10 years, the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund has mobilized 46 billion VND. Of which, the province has provided scholarships for disadvantaged students; awards for talented students; lifelong learning movements; gifts for disadvantaged scholarship members, etc., worth more than 30 billion VND.
In the first months of 2025 alone, the Bac Lieu Provincial Association for Promotion of Education mobilized units inside and outside the province to support the Vo Van Kiet Promotion of Education Fund with over 2.5 billion VND.
"Thanks to the regular support of the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund, the number of students dropping out of school due to difficulties has decreased, contributing to socio-economic development and promoting a learning society in the locality," said the Vice President of the Bac Lieu Scholarship Association.
Receiving a scholarship from the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund, Nguyen Quang Minh (10th grade student, Le Thi Rieng High School) said that for students with difficult circumstances, each scholarship and reward provides great material support to help them cover some of their studies.
"We promise to try our best to excel in our studies, constantly strive, practice skills and have a positive attitude to become useful citizens for society, contributing to building our homeland and country to be more and more beautiful," Minh expressed.

In order for the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund to continue operating effectively, Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang requested agencies and units to increase mobilization and call on organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to join hands in contributing and paying attention to scholarship and talent promotion activities.
Along with advocacy and development, he noted the importance of management work, ensuring publicity, transparency, clarity, correct purpose, compliance with laws and regulations.
The Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee also requested that the Education Promotion Association at all levels should pay more attention to people in remote areas and ethnic minorities. Further promote the care for difficult and unfortunate circumstances, create conditions for all people to study, contribute to improving people's knowledge, and take care of and nurture high-quality human resources.
At the program, Bac Lieu province awarded 400 scholarships from the Vo Van Kiet Scholarship Fund to 400 students with difficult circumstances and good academic performance studying at high schools, colleges and universities, each worth 2 million VND.
