Participating in the FIG World Challenge Cup 2025, the Vietnamese Gymnastics team sent 5 athletes: Trinh Hai Khang, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Dinh Phuong Thanh and Do Nam Anh.

The athletes performed outstandingly, reaching the finals of 4 events: Xuan Thien (pony), Khanh Phong (rings), Phuong Thanh (parallel bars) and Hai Khang (vault). In which, the two prestigious medals of Xuan Thien and Khanh Phong are considered a big "boost" for the return journey of Vietnamese Gymnastics.

After many efforts in training, along with the athletes' tireless training process, and the focused and key investment of the Sports and Physical Education industry, Vietnamese gymnasts are gradually regaining their position, achieving impressive achievements and being confident enough to succeed the previous generation of talented athletes.

Talking about the recent competition journey, Coach of the Vietnamese Gymnastics Team Truong Minh Sang said: The medals won by the athletes at the 2025 World Gymnastics Cup, especially the Gold medal of Xuan Thien, are very noteworthy. That is a worthy achievement, a reward for the students' continuous efforts over the past years. The achievements of Xuan Thien and Khanh Phong show that they have the potential and opportunity to compete for ASIAD medals or participate in the Olympics. This is considered an important step for the athletes to demonstrate their abilities, towards the 2025 Asian Gymnastics Championship, scheduled to be held in Korea next June.

Effectiveness from long-term investment strategy

The Gold Medal at the 2025 World Gymnastics Cup is the highest achievement that Xuan Thien has achieved in his career as a top athlete. To achieve the success he has today, Xuan Thien had to go through nearly 17 years of hard training with the determination not to give up. With the foundation of achievements in the pommel horse event, along with his talent and courage, Xuan Thien is expected to continue to conquer the peak of achievements, contributing to the glory of Vietnamese Sports in the international arena.

Sharing about his historic Gold Medal achievement, athlete Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien modestly said: "I still have many mistakes that need to be improved. However, I am proud of what I have achieved after years of continuous efforts. Thank you to the teachers in the coaching staff and everyone who has always been by my side and supported me throughout the past time."

Xuan Thien also confided that every time he steps into a big arena, his goal is to conquer himself, trying to complete the test at a high level of difficulty to conquer and contribute.

According to Coach Truong Minh Sang, the athletes’ achievements today are not only meaningful in terms of achievements, but also show the clear effectiveness of a long-term investment strategy. In the context that Asian countries such as Japan, China, Korea, etc. are still dominating this sport, it is very encouraging that Vietnam is starting to enter the leading positions.

“If the sports industry continues to maintain its investment orientation for athletes in their prime and young athletes, creating a steady succession, Vietnamese gymnastics will gradually approach continental and world class,” said Coach Truong Minh Sang.

After this world championship, the Vietnamese gymnastics team will continue to train to prepare for the Asian Gymnastics Championship in Korea in June. Next, the team will participate in the World Championship in Indonesia in October. In December, the athletes will conquer the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. The success achieved at the recent FIG World Challenge Cup 2025 is a great motivation for Vietnamese gymnasts to confidently conquer higher achievements in international tournaments.
