Auction of paintings by legends from the Indochina College of Fine Arts

At 5:00 p.m. on October 12, at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel (56 Ly Thai To, Hanoi ), the auction of "Legends from the Indochina School of Fine Arts" by Milon will take place. At the same time, the auction will also take place in Paris, France.

There are 59 lots at this auction, all of which are paintings by Vietnamese artists or about Vietnam.

The highlight of this sale is the sale of 3 paintings: “Reflet sur la rivière” (Reflection on the River, lacquer, 97 x 163 cm, 1954) by Tran Phuc Duyen, estimated price from 100,000 EURO to 150,000 EURO; “Le don de la Mère” (Mother's Gift, silk, 61 x 45.1 cm, before 1945) by Le Pho, estimated price from 200,000 EURO to 300,000 EURO; equivalent price to the painting “Jeune fille au perroquet” (Girl and the Parrot, silk, 38 x 31 cm, about 1938), also by Le Pho.

According to experts, Le Pho's silk paintings before 1945, especially those painted during his time in Vietnam (before 1937), despite their small size, all have very high selling prices, due to their rarity and historical value of the materials.

In particular, at the auction, connoisseurs and collectors will see again the painting "Spring Travel" (L'Éveil du Printemps) ink and watercolor on silk, 38 x 25cm, 1950) by Le Van Xuong.

This painting appeared at the discovery and honor exhibition of Ly Thi Auction House in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2016. The painting "Spring Travel" has an estimated price of 15,000 - 20,000 EURO.

Based on the estimated ceiling price, the total selling price of this session is more than 1.8 million EURO, equivalent to 50 billion VND.

According to researcher Ly Doi, art lovers who want to preview the works can go to the Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel from 2-6pm on October 11 and from 9-3pm on October 12.
