Bac Lieu inaugurated and handed over 700 houses to poor and near-poor households

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam - Deputy Minister of Public Security said that in recent years, the Ministry of Public Security has chaired the mobilization and coordinated with localities to build a total of more than 28,600 houses, many schools and schools with a budget of more than 1,400 billion VND.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Ministry of Public Security has mobilized all its forces to donate daily wages with a total budget of 362 billion VND to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 02 provinces ( Cao Bang and Gia Lai) according to the Government's program.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security has mobilized resources to continue supporting the elimination of more than 4,400 temporary and dilapidated houses, with a budget of over VND 280 billion for poor households, policy families, families with meritorious services to the revolution, and ethnic minorities nationwide.

For Bac Lieu province, 700 houses have been built and completed, ensuring progress and quality with a spirit of urgency, determination and the efforts of the entire political system.

“It can be said that these are very optimistic results, this is a victory for the province's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, and is a motivation for Bac Lieu province to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity and pioneering in the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the coming time,” Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam emphasized.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security believes that with new, stable and solid housing, households will feel secure in working and producing, continue to promote the spirit of national solidarity, trust in the leadership of the Party and State, continue to rise up in life, actively participate in ensuring security, social order and safety, and build a solid people's security posture at the grassroots level.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province said: "Recently, responding to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister, Bac Lieu has developed a Plan and established a Steering Committee. At the same time, established working groups to mobilize resources, with the determination to strive to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025 under the direction of the Prime Minister.

In particular, Bac Lieu has received attention, direction and support from the Government, central ministries, branches, localities, businesses and benefactors inside and outside the province to support funding for the province to implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

“The implementation of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses from the mobilized support of the Ministry of Public Security not only demonstrates the cooperation of all levels and sectors, especially the role of the members of the Steering Committee, the Public Security force, together with local authorities to effectively carry out social security work according to the policies of the Party and State, but also strengthens the people's firm trust in the Party Committee, the government and the People's Public Security force,” Mr. Pham Van Thieu emphasized.

The Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee also requested that after receiving the new house supported by the Ministry of Public Security, households must preserve and use the house well and long-term to stabilize their lives, actively increase production, develop the family economy, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality. Therefore, households must make their own efforts together with the attention of the Party, the State, the Ministry of Public Security, local Party committees, authorities and the community, determined to "Strengthen and escape poverty sustainably". At the same time, actively participate in the work of ensuring security, order and the movement of the whole people to protect national security.

Up to now, Bac Lieu province has completed the construction of 1,758/2,537 houses; the province will strive to mobilize resources to complete the remaining 779 houses before July 1.

Through reviewing the housing construction needs for the subjects of removing temporary and dilapidated houses in Bac Lieu province, there are 2,537 houses that need support for construction and repair with a total cost of over 146 billion VND. Bac Lieu province is a poor province with a small economy and insufficient budget revenue. In particular, Bac Lieu does not have large economic groups, enterprises are mainly small and medium-sized, so mobilizing social resources to support people to remove temporary and dilapidated houses is still very limited.
