Rush to welcome billionaires
In early March 2024, Da Nang caused a stir with the news that billionaire Bill Gates came to Vietnam by Gulfstream G650 ER, stopped at the super luxury hotel InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort and reserved a special Vietnamese tea session at Ban Co peak (Son Tra peninsula).
Seven years ago, the " world's most luxurious hotel" (WTA honored) InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was the place to welcome and rest heads of state and politicians at the APEC 2017 Conference.

Not only is it a favorite destination for billionaires and politicians, Da Nang has also emerged as an attractive wedding venue in Asia for super-rich couples. In the first 2 months of 2024, dozens of weddings of couples around the world came to Da Nang in the form of wedding tourism, with the cost of each wedding reaching millions of dollars. In particular, Da Nang is receiving significant attention from the Indian tourist market, one of the countries famous for luxurious tourism weddings with a wedding market value of more than 45 billion USD in 2022 and estimated to reach 100 billion USD in 2025. In just the first 5 months of 2024, Da Nang organized 4 weddings for Indian couples with more than 1,200 guests.
It can be seen that Da Nang has become an increasingly attractive destination for the world's super-rich. Most recently, from October 15-17, Da Nang airport unexpectedly became the landing place for 5 of the most expensive Gulfstream jets in the world, bringing many billionaires from all over the world to the city on the Han River.

Once owned by billionaires such as Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos... Gulfstream has become a legend in the world's luxury aviation industry. Appearing in Da Nang this time are 5 private jets that have made Gulfstream famous worldwide. The most prominent of these are the 2 G700 aircraft that the company just launched this year and the G650ER, a private jet operated by Sun Air - Gulfstream's exclusive representative in Vietnam.
According to information, this event is an opportunity for Gulfstream to introduce its products to billionaire customers around the world, and together with Sun Air, expand the market in Vietnam as well as develop the Asia-Pacific market. It can be seen that, if a few years ago, luxury aviation was quite unfamiliar to Vietnam, now it is a completely new field, a market full of potential. The birth of Sun Air - the first luxury airline in Vietnam in 2022, along with the fastest growth rate of USD millionaires in the world, has turned Vietnam into a fertile land for luxury tourism, a potential emerging market in Asia. A report from global asset firm New World Wealth and investment consultancy Henley & Partners shows that Vietnam is the country with the fastest growth rate of USD millionaires in the world, specifically an increase of 98% in the 10 years from 2013 to 2023. China and Mauritius follow with 92% and 87% respectively.

The appearance of the world's most expensive private jets at Da Nang airport is an affirmation that Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular have enough potential and conditions to welcome super-luxury guests.
Targeting the super-rich in Asia and the Middle East
Explaining the appeal of Da Nang, it can be seen that few places can surpass the city on the Han River when it owns the most beautiful beaches on the planet, international standard tourism services, the most luxurious hotels in the world and many famous resort brands such as InterContinental, Park Hyatt, Marriott,... Recently, Da Nang cuisine has also risen with the appearance of prestigious global Michelin stars, with La Maison 1888 restaurant receiving one Michelin star, or Nen Danang receiving the Michelin Green Star award along with dozens of restaurants on the Michelin Selected list.

According to Mr. Tran Chi Cuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, welcoming luxury tourists in recent times has followed the policy and goal set by the Central Government for Da Nang City, which is to build Da Nang into an international tourism center. To successfully achieve this goal, Da Nang has called for strategic investors to create products of international standards. "One of the advantages of Da Nang is the common awareness of tourism development in the city's political system, in addition to the cooperation of the city's people in creating a secure and safe environment, and especially the participation of investors with great vision and potential to invest in quality products" - Mr. Cuong said.
With the goal of becoming an international tourism center, Da Nang has been creating a tourism ecosystem with ideal conditions to welcome and serve luxury guests, from resorts, cuisine to experiences. According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung - Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association: "The readiness of the business community along with potential resources, infrastructure systems and high-class service systems, all have combined to create unique products to meet each customer group, and create the characteristics of Da Nang's luxury product ecosystem".

According to Mr. Cao Tri Dung, the next market that Da Nang will target will be the super-rich Asians from China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and further, the Middle East, the oil kings and Europe, Australia, America... are also very potential markets.
With synchronous investment and the support of potential investors to create luxury tourism ecosystems, Da Nang is affirming that the city has the ideal conditions to welcome and serve luxury tourists who previously only chose the Maldives or isolated, convenient tourist paradises as destinations./.
