On the afternoon of May 22, a working delegation from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC) of Niigata province (Japan) led by Mr. Shou Maekawa, Deputy Director of the Department, visited and worked in Thanh Hoa province.
The delegation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Niigata province presented souvenirs to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province.
Also joining the delegation were leaders and experts from the Albirex Niigata Football Training Center and the Albirex Niigata Club (Japan). Welcoming and working with the delegation were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, representatives of the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Thanh Hoa Football Federation, and the leadership of the Dong A Thanh Hoa Football Club Company Limited.
At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa reported on the history and outstanding achievements of the Thanh Hoa football team (now Dong A Thanh Hoa Club). Thanh Hoa football team was established in 1962, has gone through more than 62 years of development, and is one of the typical football teams that have participated in national tournaments such as the national championship, national cup and the annual national youth tournament system.
In 2007, Thanh Hoa football team won the right to play in the V.League National Professional Championship and has been participating since then. Thanh Hoa football team won the runner-up position in the V.League twice in 2017 and 2018, and won the third place twice in 2014 and 2015. In the 2023-2024 season, Dong A Thanh Hoa is currently ranked 6th in the V.League 1 National Championship and entered the semi-finals of the National Cup.
In the National Cup arena, Dong A Thanh Hoa team won the championship in 2023, runner-up in 2018 and third place in 2022. In addition, Dong A Thanh Hoa Club also won the National Super Cup in 2023.
Regarding youth training, Thanh Hoa football team has a system of training players at the ages of U13, U15, U17, U19 and U21, participating in youth tournaments in the national competition system of the Vietnam Football Federation. In terms of achievements, Thanh Hoa U19 team won the national U19 championship twice in 1997 and 2023. Thanh Hoa U17 team won the National U17 Football Championship in 2019. Thanh Hoa U15 team won the runner-up position at the National U15 Football Championship in 2019. The U21 team won the bronze medal at the National U21 Championship in 2022.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Shou Maekawa, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Niigata province, introduced the local sports movement, especially the investment in football development, youth training of the province and at the Albirex Niigata Football Training Center, Albirex Niigata Club.
Albirex Niigata is a professional football club currently playing in the Japanese National Championship - J. League 1. Although they only joined the J. League in 1999, Albirex Niigata is one of the teams with the best fans in Japan. Since playing in the J. League 1 in 2004, Albirex Niigata has achieved an average audience of 38,000 - 40,000 people. The Albirex Niigata Youth Training Center is considered to be of high quality, contributing many players to the Japanese youth teams.
At the meeting, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa and Niigata provinces agreed on the contents of cooperation in the coming time such as: once a year, the youth team (the current training group of Niigata is U14) and the Thanh Hoa U14 team will exchange and compete in Thanh Hoa and Niigata province; Albirex Niigata may recruit young talents from Thanh Hoa for training; Dong A Thanh Hoa Club will participate in learning experiences at Albirex Niigata Club; share expertise and experience in training youth teams, building professional teams to participate in the National Championship and regional and continental tournaments...
Expanding cooperation with Niigata province (Japan) is considered an important step forward for Thanh Hoa province to continuously improve the quality of football development in the current new situation, with the goal of professionalizing and improving the achievements of youth teams, first team participating in the annual national championship and international tournaments.
Within the framework of the working program, the delegation of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Niigata province attended the match between Hanoi FC and Dong A Thanh Hoa in round 20 of V.League 1 on the evening of May 21; visited the facilities of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club and witnessed the training session of the U17 and U19 Dong A Thanh Hoa teams.
