Promoting tourism development cooperation between Thai Nguyen province and Hai Phong city

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of August 26, at Hai Quan Hotel, the Steering Committee for Tourism Development of Thai Nguyen province held a conference to promote tourism in Thai Nguyen province in Hai Phong city.

Attending the conference were Mr. Le Ngoc Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province; Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Hai Phong city; and representatives of relevant associations, units and enterprises.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Le Ngoc Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province said: Currently, Thai Nguyen province has been focusing on developing 04 main tourism product lines including: Cultural, spiritual, historical, and origin tourism; Ecological and resort tourism; Community and rural tourism associated with Tea culture; MICE tourism, sports, and adventure cave exploration. With attractive and unique tourism resources and special cultural values, it promises to bring visitors a complete experience journey with full colors of the land and people of Thai Nguyen.

On the occasion of the Conference, Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Hai Phong City introduced to the Thai Nguyen Tourism Promotion Delegation and businesses the potentials and advantages for tourism development of Hai Phong City. He affirmed that the Conference is a practical activity to promote inter-regional cooperation and development, gradually speed up recovery, and accelerate effective and sustainable tourism development. This is also an opportunity to promote and introduce Thai Nguyen tourism to the people of Hai Phong City as well as introduce Hai Phong tourism to Thai Nguyen tourism businesses, increasing connections and cooperation between tourism businesses of the two provinces and cities.

Through this conference, tourism leaders of the two provinces and cities requested businesses to strengthen coordination in promoting and introducing destinations, researching and building products, and developing markets based on exploiting the advantages and potential differences of the two localities. At the same time, promote and include tourist destinations of the two localities in tour programs to introduce and sell to tourists.

This is an opportunity for businesses of the two provinces and cities to exchange and cooperate for development.

Thai Nguyen is located in the Northeast of the country, is the gateway connecting the midland and mountainous regions of the North with the Northern Delta, has a natural area of over 3,500 km², a population of over 1.3 million people; is one of the major training centers of the country, with 09 universities, 77 colleges, high schools and vocational schools. Thai Nguyen is about 50 km from Noi Bai International Airport; has a complete system of roads, railways, and waterways connecting with provinces and cities in the region and the whole country.

Thai Nguyen is a land with a long history and culture with rich natural and humanistic tourism potential. In the province, there are over 1,000 inventoried relics, including 01 relic ranked at the special national level with 13 relic sites, 57 relics ranked at the national level and 237 relics ranked at the provincial level; nearly 300 craft villages, over 200 OCOP products from 3-5 stars, this is a valuable resource for Thai Nguyen province to develop many attractive types of tourism, meeting the needs of tourists. Thai Nguyen is also the cradle of revolution with "red addresses" such as: Dinh Hoa National Special Relic Site; National Historical Relic Site, memorial site for the Youth Volunteers of Company 915, Team 91 Bac Thai...

Thai Nguyen attracts tourists not only by going back to the source to learn about historical and cultural relics, archaeological sites but also by the strong development of eco-tourism, community tourism, because this is a land of green mountains and blue water, fresh climate, endowed by nature with many beautiful landscapes, mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, caves, streams and waterfalls... with famous landscapes such as Nui Coc Lake, Ghenh Che Lake, Phuong Hoang Cave - Suoi Mo Ga, streams, waterfalls, wild rocks on the eastern slope of Tam Dao, poetic green tea hills. Thai Nguyen is the province with the largest tea area and output in the country (22.2 thousand hectares and 267.5 thousand tons of fresh buds), the total revenue from tea trees in 2023 is estimated at nearly 13 trillion VND. Tea trees and tea products have been closely associated with the land and people of Thai Nguyen for a long time. They are honored as "The First Famous Tea". The art of enjoying tea has become a very unique cultural feature of Thai Nguyen people.

Thai Nguyen currently has 11 tourist destinations that have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee, typically: Thai Hai ethnic stilt house village conservation area was awarded the "World's Best Tourist Village 2022" award by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Tan Cuong commune community tourism site, Tan Son hamlet community tourism site, Phuong Hoang eco-tourism site, Dung Tan tourism trade center... Thai Nguyen is home to 51/54 ethnic groups; 22 heritages are included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages, typically: Tac Xinh dance, the harvest festival of the San Chay ethnic group; Cap Sac ceremony, Pa Dung singing, the art of sewing and embroidery of the Dao ethnic group; Dry puppetry, Then ritual, Long Tong festival of the Tay ethnic group; Khen art of the Mong people; folk knowledge of growing and processing Tan Cuong tea...
