The conference took place on October 16, 2025, chaired by Minister Tran Duc Thang; representatives of central ministries and branches; leaders of People's Committees and Departments of Agriculture and Environment of provinces and cities; and OCOP subjects, typical rural tourism models across the country. This is an important event to review the results of 5 years of implementing the OCOP Program and developing rural tourism, and at the same time agree on the direction for the next phase.
According to the Minister's assessment, the OCOP program and rural tourism development in the period of 2021 - 2025 have achieved many outstanding results, continuing to affirm the correct policies of the Party and the State. The program has exploited local advantages, promoted the internal strength of the community, increased the value of OCOP products, created jobs and increased income for rural people. Many products have been gradually standardized, built brands, and expanded consumption markets. However, the Minister also pointed out shortcomings such as uneven product quality, fragmented rural tourism management, and some localities have not really paid due attention to in-depth OCOP development.
To develop OCOP and rural tourism in a professional and sustainable manner in the period 2026 - 2030, the Minister requested localities to develop plans and projects in accordance with their potential and specific advantages; standardize product quality, form stable raw material areas and improve the economic organization capacity of OCOP entities. At the same time, promote promotion, trade promotion, expand domestic and foreign markets; develop rural tourism associated with planning, select pilot models for systematic investment, increase experience and replication ability. Localities also need to strengthen the management of product quality, tourist destinations and apply science and technology, digital transformation in management and consumption connection.
The important directions of Minister Tran Duc Thang are the basis for the Department of Agriculture and Environment of localities and related units to synchronously deploy solutions, bringing the OCOP Program and rural tourism into a new development stage, focusing on quality, value and sustainability in the period 2026 - 2030./.
