Delegates attending the workshop "Sharing information on current regulations on trade and trade defense of the wood industry in the US market"
The workshop revolved around issues that businesses are currently very interested in, such as Vietnam - US trade tax policy in the Trump 2.0 era, policy changes and how to turn danger into opportunity; guiding businesses to participate in trade defense cases with solutions to help wood industry businesses proactively adapt and protect their rights.
A representative of the Trade Defense Department said that in 2024, Vietnam's total export turnover of wood and wood products will reach over 16.2 billion USD, of which products exported to the United States alone will account for 56% of total export turnover, reaching nearly 9 billion USD and imports from this market will reach over 230 million USD.
Experts share information on current regulations on trade and trade defense of the wood industry in the US market.
In the US market alone, the Vietnamese wood industry had a trade surplus of about 8.8 billion USD in the import and export of wood and wood products. According to statistics, the US is the most important export market for the Vietnamese wood industry.
Faced with increasing challenges from US trade defense measures, wood processing enterprises in Vietnam in general and enterprises in Binh Duong province in particular need to strongly implement synchronous solutions to minimize risks and maintain competitive position. At the same time, enterprises also recommend that the Binh Duong Wood Processing Association submit opinions to authorities at all levels to develop feasibility assessments of FDI projects with potential trade defense risks.
