Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized: Athletics is a basic sport that is always included in the official competition program of major sports events. Not only that, Athletics is also a supplementary sport for all other sports. In recent times, the quality of Athletics has been increasingly affirmed, however, in order for Vietnamese Athletics to have solid, long-term progress in the future, it is necessary to have a Development Project.
In order for the Workshop to contribute ideas to build the project to develop Vietnamese Athletics to 2030 and orientation to 2045 to achieve the best results, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh suggested that delegates focus on contributing to the following contents: the current situation as well as the challenges and opportunities of Vietnamese Athletics.
“Have the shortcomings and limitations been fully stated? Have they been accurately and objectively reflected?... are questions that need to be clarified. Because according to Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh: only by frankly acknowledging the current situation can we determine the direction, goals, tasks and solutions for Vietnamese athletics to develop more strongly in the coming time.
Along with that, the most basic and important content that needs to be focused on for opinions is to determine the goals, including general goals and specific goals. Assessing that the Project's 8 tasks and solutions are relatively complete and comprehensive, ensuring the requirements for the Project to develop a sport, however, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh also noted to consider setting out priority tasks and solutions, and breakthroughs that need to be focused on to improve achievements.
Regarding the issue of organizing the implementation of the Project, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh suggested assigning specific tasks or for the proposed content of establishing a training center for developing Vietnamese athletics, it is necessary to clarify where the land fund will come from? Which unit will be responsible? What are the mechanisms and policies?...

Attending the Workshop, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh - Head of High Performance Sports Department hoped that the valuable contributions of the delegates attending the Workshop would help form an overall picture for the sustainable development of Vietnamese Athletics.
Accordingly, it is necessary to clearly state the key content, the names of key athletes, the budget and specific goals. In order for Vietnamese Athletics to have sustainable development, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh pointed out that it is necessary to carry out planning on which locations to train athletics (National High-Level Athletes Training Center in Hanoi, National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City and National Youth Athletes Training Center in Da Nang) and which content to practice, avoiding spreading.
