Proposal to transfer all international flights from Tan Son Nhat to Long Thanh airport

The above information was stated by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) Vu The Phiet at a recent working session with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the working delegation.

Specifically, at the meeting, Mr. Vu The Phiet said that the enterprise has built exploitation documents and invited foreign consultants to prepare to put Long Thanh airport ( Dong Nai province) into operation according to international standards.

According to him, the unit has sought opinions on the exploitation plan, including a proposal to transfer all international flights from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) to Long Thanh Airport after this project officially operates.

Currently, all bidding packages of component project 3 (including essential works such as passenger terminal, runway, taxiway, apron, etc.) are being deployed simultaneously on the entire site. Nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers and about 3,000 pieces of equipment are being mobilized to speed up the construction progress.

Component 3 project consists of 14 packages, of which 3 have been completed and the remaining 11 are under construction. The total value of the volume implemented to date is about 40,316 billion VND, equivalent to 51% of the plan.

For the passenger terminal, there are currently more than 4,700 personnel and 1,000 machines and equipment deployed for construction. The steel roof structure is 99% complete, and the entire central roof structure is expected to be completed before August 15.

Runway No. 1 has been basically completed. Runway No. 2 started construction on May 30. Currently, the joint venture has mobilized more than 280 engineers, workers and 127 pieces of equipment for construction.
