Den Vau will not appear at Hue Festival Week 2024 because of... Bidding Law

On the afternoon of June 13, the organizing committee of Hue Festival Week 2024 held a press conference to summarize the achievements after a vibrant festival week, including explaining the reason for the absence of singer Den Vau and many other artists.

Previously, at an international press conference held in Hanoi , the organizing committee of Hue Festival Week 2024 provided information that famous singers such as Den Vau, Soonbin Hoang Son, Suboi... will appear at this year's opening program.

This information is awaited by young people inside and outside Thua Thien Hue province because these are all attractive artists with a large fan base.

However, in reality, the above names did not appear in any of the main programs of this year's Hue Festival Week, leaving many people disappointed.

Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Chief of Office of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, said this was due to the provisions of the Law on Bidding.

Accordingly, this year is the first year the Hue Festival program has conducted public bidding for performing arts programs.

According to the law, the bidding unit that offers the lowest winning bid amount and meets all the regulations will be given priority in choosing the winning bid (calculated on a scale of points).

Mr. Giang said that the Bidding Law stipulates that, so some directors and art programs, although "familiar" with the Hue Festival for many years, cannot participate because they did not win the bid.

The case of singer Den Vau and many other famous artists "missing their appointment" with Hue Festival Week 2024 is the same.

According to Mr. Giang, the application of the Law on Bidding for performing arts programs is facing many difficulties and disadvantages not only in Hue but also in many localities across the country.

"We will learn from experience and make recommendations to relevant superior agencies on applying the Law on Bidding to art programs," said Mr. Giang.

Hue Monuments earn 8 billion VND during Hue Festival Week 2024

Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said that during the Hue Festival Week 2024, more than 54,500 domestic and foreign visitors came to visit Hue monuments.

Total revenue this time is more than 8 billion VND.

Mr. Trung also said that in the first 6 months of this year, the center's revenue from selling tickets to the relic was more than 200 billion VND.
