On the afternoon of May 7, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Toan, Director of Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board (Thanh Hoa province) said that the provincial police are investigating and clarifying the case of the tomb of King Le Tuc Tong in Kien Tho commune, Ngoc Lac district (belonging to the Lam Kinh National Special Relic Complex) being violated.

Previously, on the evening of May 3, officials of the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board discovered many unusual signs around the tomb of King Le Tuc Tong.

After inspection, the Management Board discovered a metal spike - a type of antiquities hunting equipment - embedded deep underground, about 8-10m from the wall surrounding King Le Tuc Tong's tomb. The spike consists of 10 sections, connected together by lathes.

At the tomb, a mobile phone with Chinese characters installed and some personal documents of a Chinese national were also discovered.

Suspecting that the tomb was being violated, the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board reported the incident to the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police to make a record of the handover of evidence, examine the scene, and investigate the incident.

By the afternoon of May 4, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police in coordination with professional units of Quang Ninh Provincial Police arrested two suspects, Deng Zhui (41 years old, passport number EN7117797) and Shen Jiang Yang (43 years old, passport number EK0544073) while they were taking a taxi to Mong Cai to try to cross the border.

Both suspects live in Guangxi (China). The location where the two suspects were arrested is nearly 400km from the scene of King Le Tuc Tong's tomb.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have taken these two people to the crime scene for investigation. Initially, the police determined that the suspects had committed acts of “violating the bodies, graves, and remains” at the tomb of King Le Tuc Tong.

King Le Tuc Tong (1488-1505) was the seventh emperor of the early Le dynasty - Dai Viet. He only held the throne for six months and only used one reign name, Thai Trinh.

According to Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu, Le Tuc Tong was close to virtuous people, loved good deeds, was a good king, and kept the country peaceful. During his reign, he also quelled the rebellion of Doan The Nung in Cao Bang.

In early 1505, Le Tuc Tong fell seriously ill and passed away at Hoang Cuc Palace, at the age of 17. After the king passed away, in the third lunar month of the same year, his coffin was brought back to Tay Kinh (or Lam Kinh) and buried in Kinh Lang./.
