*Pig price in the Northern region
In this morning's session, the pig market did not record any new adjustments.
Specifically, Hanoi still maintains the highest price in the region and the country at 67,000 VND/kg. In contrast, Ninh Binh province is trading at 64,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region.
Live pigs in Lao Cai, Nam Dinh and Ha Nam provinces have a purchase price of 65,000 VND/kg.
Traders in the remaining localities maintained live pig trading at 66,000 VND/kg.
*Pig price in the Central Highlands region
In the Central Highlands region, the pig market is also quiet.
Of which, the highest price in the region is 66,000 VND/kg, continuing to be recorded in Thanh Hoa. Except for Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh which are still at 64,000 VND/kg, other localities are trading in the range of 62,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.
*Pig price in the Southern region
The southern pig market today remained unchanged following the general trend.
Accordingly, live pigs in Binh Duong and Ca Mau are being purchased at the highest price in the region at 65,000 VND/kg. Other localities continue to have purchase prices in the range of 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
* According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Hong Kong (China), Hong Kong is a market with a large demand for food imports. For many years, Vietnam has been the 6th largest market for Hong Kong to import food, with an average annual import turnover of more than 400 million USD.
Some Vietnamese food products are taking up a large market share in Hong Kong's imports, such as rice (27%), and especially suckling pigs, which account for more than 99%. In other words, the vast majority of suckling pigs imported into Hong Kong come from Vietnam.
Suckling pigs are also the main product in the group of meat and meat products exported from Vietnam to Hong Kong.
According to the General Department of Customs, in the second quarter of 2024, Vietnam's meat and meat product exports to Hong Kong reached 2.57 thousand tons, worth 14.65 million USD, up 25% in volume and 16.6% in value compared to the second quarter of 2023. Meat and meat products exported to Hong Kong are mainly suckling pigs. In addition, there are some other products such as cooked chicken, frozen chicken feet, etc.
Hong Kong is currently the largest market for meat and meat products exports from Vietnam. In the second quarter of 2024, the Hong Kong market accounted for 42% in volume and 56% in value of Vietnam's total meat and meat products exports.
This special administrative region is currently among the top 20 pork importing markets in the world. In 2022, Hong Kong's pork import turnover was 610 million USD, of which the largest imports were from Brazil with 191 million USD, mainland China with 164 million USD, the Netherlands with 48.6 million USD, and Vietnam with 41.6 million USD.
