Diaz has a new destination. |
Bayern Munich have paid €75m to sign Diaz from Liverpool, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Colombian will sign a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029.
Bild revealed that Bayern approved spending up to 14 million euros per season to pay Diaz's salary. Currently, the Colombian star only receives 3.2 million euros/year at Liverpool. Despite his great contributions, Diaz's treatment at Anfield is ranked among the lowest in the club. This makes the Colombian striker unhappy.
Diaz will become Bayern's second notable signing this summer. Previously, coach Vincent Kompany's team recruited center-back Jonathan Tah from Leverkusen on a free transfer.
At Bayern, Diaz will play alongside former Premier League duo Harry Kane and Michael Olise. Coach Kompany hopes Diaz's versatility will help the "Gray Tigers" increase their attacking depth from the 2025/26 season.
In fact, Diaz is not Bayern's number one target this summer. The "Gray Tigers" actively pursued Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams and Bradley Barcola and were willing to spend a lot of money but all failed.
For Liverpool, selling Diaz to Bayern will help the team recover some of the money spent in this year's transfer window. More than 300 million euros have been spent by the Anfield team in the transfer market this summer, creating a big change for Liverpool ahead of the 2025/26 season.
