At top universities, computer science benchmarks remain high, despite slight adjustments from year to year.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a top technology training institution, recorded a benchmark score of 29.42/30 points based on high school graduation exam scores in 2023, decreasing to 28.53 in 2024 for the regular program (IT1).

This is the major with the highest admission score at the school, requiring candidates to achieve an average of 9.51-9.81 points/subject to be admitted. Meanwhile, the school's computer science program - in collaboration with Troy University (TROY-IT) has dropped more sharply, from 24.96 points (in 2023) to 21 points (in 2024).

Similarly, the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has seen its benchmark for computer science decrease slightly over the years. In particular, in the last 2 years, the school has changed the scoring method, applying a coefficient of 2 for math, and considering admission on a 40-point scale. On average, candidates need to achieve 8.5 points for each subject to be admitted, a fairly comfortable level for good candidates.

The University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has a fairly stable admission score. In 2024, the score was 27.58, an increase of 0.33 points compared to the previous 2 years. The school continues to maintain its position in the group of highly competitive schools with a requirement that candidates achieve an average of 9.2 points/subject in the high school graduation exam to be admitted.

In the southern region, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam National University, enrolls students in computer science using a comprehensive method (100-point scale). In 2024, the regular program (106) scored 84.16 points, a significant increase from 2022 with 75.99 points and 79.84 points in 2023.

In 2024, the computer science major with English-taught programs (206) also increased to 83.63 points, while the Japanese-oriented program (266) recorded an increase of nearly 18 points compared to 2022, reaching 79.63 points.

To be admitted to the majors at the University of Science and Technology, candidates need to have many component scores including academic scores, bonus points and priority points. In which, academic scores include 20% of the converted high school graduation exam score, 70% of the ability score and 10% of the candidate's converted high school score.

The school's unique scoring system increases the chances of admission while also ensuring the quality of incoming students.

The University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City has fluctuated slightly around 27 points in the past 3 years.

The school still affirms its strength in training in the technology sector, the score is always at a competitive level not only in computer science but also in other majors at the school, never below 25.4 in the period 2022-2024.

In addition, the Computer Science major of the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City also maintains a high standard score, ranging from 28.05 to 28.5 points in the period 2022-2024. Therefore, candidates need to achieve an average of 9.35 points/subject to be competitive in this major.

In addition, many public universities, among the top prestigious universities, tend to have slightly lower scores. However, the admission level is still considered quite competitive, showing that the attraction of computer science has not cooled down. For example, schools such as National Economics University, Hanoi Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology,...

In the non-public sector, the benchmark for computer science is significantly lower, opening up more opportunities for candidates. Schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Saigon International University, Dai Nam University, etc. only require a score of 15-18.

Despite a slight decline in some schools, computer science is still expected to maintain strong appeal in the coming years thanks to high demand for human resources and attractive salaries.
