The year 2025 promises to be a vibrant race in the university and college admissions season with the strong rise of many new majors, meeting the needs of the ever-changing labor market. Besides traditional majors that still maintain their position, many fields of technology, digital economy and creative services are becoming "magnets" attracting a large number of candidates.

Technology and digital economy begin to take over

The lunch of Ms. Hoang Khanh Ngan's family (Ward 7, Bac Lieu City) became more lively when the whole family discussed together about choosing a major and school for their eldest son in the 2025 admission season. Seeing that her son was still hesitating, "picking up and putting down" between some new majors related to artificial intelligence (AI) and the combination that is his forte, Ms. Ngan gently said: "It is completely understandable that you are hesitating between new majors related to AI and majors in your forte combination. But Dad and Mom also want you to think a little more. Currently, AI is gradually changing many areas of life, even replacing part of the work that humans used to do. It is no longer a matter of the distant future, but a trend of the times. Dad and Mom do not force you to choose anything, but at a time when everything is changing as quickly as now, daring to try a new direction, in line with the trend This will help you be more proactive and flexible in the future."

Ms. Khanh Ngan and many parents in Bac Lieu have clearly felt the strong transformation of information technology (IT) and AI in the future. Indeed, it is not beyond prediction when the IT industry and fields related to the digital economy continue to affirm their irresistible attraction in the 2025 enrollment season. The remarkable development of AI, Big Data, cybersecurity, financial technology (Fintech) and e-commerce has created an unprecedented demand for high-quality human resources.

Admissions experts say that majors such as Computer Science , Software Engineering, Information Security, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, and Digital Business Administration will continue to be “hot trends” this year. Students studying these majors not only have wide-open job opportunities with attractive salaries but also play an important role in the digital transformation of the economy. Many universities have quickly grasped this trend by opening new majors and advanced training programs to meet the practical needs of businesses.

Health, innovation and service - potential "stars"

Along with the technology and digital economy sectors, the health sector has always maintained its position as one of the top choices for candidates. In particular, in the context of society increasingly paying attention to quality of life and longevity, sectors such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biomedical Engineering and majors related to mental health care are expected to continue to attract great interest.

In addition, the strong development of the creative industry also opens up many opportunities for young people who are passionate about art and design. Industries such as: Graphic Design, Multimedia Communications, Fashion Design, Architecture and Interior Design are becoming "hotter" than ever, meeting the aesthetic and branding needs of businesses.

Finally, the service sector with industries such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Marketing and Communications is also forecast to continue to grow strongly, especially in the context of Vietnam's deep integration into the global economy and the tourism industry is recovering strongly after the pandemic.

The 2025 admissions season promises many interesting surprises with fierce competition between majors. Grasping trends and choosing a career that suits your abilities, interests and labor market needs will be the key to helping candidates achieve success in their future education and career.
