"Vietnam Concert Film: We Are Vietnamese" had difficulty selling tickets, with only a few tickets sold per screening, and the theater left with a modest total revenue of more than 200 million VND.
This film could have been made better because it was rich in material, especially material about Vietnamese culture. Hoang Thuy Linh named the film with the message "We are Vietnamese", it was thought that she would use Vietnamese cultural material, love for Vietnamese culture as the main theme, throughout, but no, more than half of the film is the time for the female singer and the whole crew to talk about... Hoang Thuy Linh .
Hoang Thuy Linh is famous for being a singer who sings with intelligence. Hoang Thuy Linh was the valedictorian of the Television Directing class - Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. The film "Vietnam Concert Film: We are Vietnamese" was directed by Hoang Thuy Linh in collaboration with Kawaii Tuan Anh.
“Vietnam Concert Film: We are Vietnamese” is a carefully invested film in terms of images, sound, and lighting. The film has many beautiful frames, quality sound, and many emotional moments of silence.
The biggest weakness of the film is that it talks too much. It feels like Hoang Thuy Linh is worried that the audience cannot fully appreciate her talent, effort and hard work, so she has to use a lot of interview segments.
Hoang Thuy Linh's talent, ability, and intelligence should have been shown more subtly in terms of image, and the script should have been more solidly constructed and had more scope. Instead, in the second half of the film, there were almost continuous interview segments with the crew, and everyone sent verbal messages such as "Hoang Thuy Linh is very good", "Hoang Thuy Linh tries very hard", "Hoang Thuy Linh is inspirational"...
Letting the crew members compliment each other makes the concert less objective, as well as for Hoang Thuy Linh herself. Furthermore, the way these messages are spoken out loud is heavily staged, orchestrated, and lacks subtlety.
Hoang Thuy Linh's talent and efforts should not be "shown off" in words (if any, they should be kept to a minimum), but should be left behind in the visuals, so that the audience, after watching the film, can feel it for themselves.

The film is rich in material for image and script processing, because Hoang Thuy Linh has a very unique personal musical color. There, the female singer has brought ethnic cultural materials, indigenous cultures of regions combined with electronic music to bring to the market a series of unique hits.
Neutral audiences (not fans of Hoang Thuy Linh) would want to go see a movie called “We are Vietnamese” - where they depict how Hoang Thuy Linh has learned and researched cultures, has she been to the Northwest, how she filmed “Let Me Tell You” with Mong ethnic costumes, the beauty of Mong people in real life and when they enter music, step onto the stage... Neutral audiences go to the cinema not to see a movie that mentions “Vietnamese” but tends to praise Hoang Thuy Linh, what the audience wants to see is a movie about the beauty of Vietnamese culture, the journey - the research of a young singer when bringing culture to the stage and music.
If the stature and beauty of Vietnamese culture were researched more carefully and incorporated into the script at a more in-depth level, the film “We are Vietnamese” would have greater value and emotion.
