The first Vietnam ESG Forum, held on April 23 in Hanoi , marked an important milestone in the journey to promote sustainable development in Vietnam.

With the theme “Sustainable development strategy in the new era”, the first Vietnam ESG Forum (2024) attracted the participation of many leaders of state management agencies, international experts, and representatives of pioneering domestic and foreign enterprises.

The lively presentations and discussions brought multi-dimensional perspectives, from strategy to practice, affirming that ESG is not just a theoretical concept but a strategy to create real, long-term value.

The workshop "ESG-oriented corporate governance - What to do, where to start?" held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 29, 2024 attracted more than 300 guests, creating an opportunity to connect business leaders with experienced domestic and international ESG experts, accessing ESG-oriented governance solutions - a vital factor for units aiming to maximize efficiency and profit.

Following the success, the workshop “Sustainable Human Resources - The Center of the 'S' in ESG?” held on October 30, 2024 in Hanoi marked the rare occasion when the letter “S” (Society) was highlighted in a leading dialogue forum.

Subsequent seminars such as “Implementing ESG towards sustainable development - Tasting the sweetness of digital transformation”, “Net Zero - Commitment and action for a sustainable future” or “Green transformation according to ESG - What do businesses do when resources are limited?” have expanded knowledge about ESG by delving into practical aspects, outlining a panoramic picture of ESG in Vietnam.

Challenges such as resource constraints, lack of a unified standards framework, or the need to raise ESG awareness were dissected, while feasible solutions were proposed to achieve the Net Zero target by 2050.

As part of the outstanding activities of the Vietnam ESG Forum 2024, the writing contest "ESG Initiative - For a Sustainable Vietnam" attracted nearly 100 quality entries from students, university students, and social activists.

The best work, “GLUE Project: Sustainable Tourism and Environmental Leadership in Da Nang” by Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, was honored for its creative ideas in combining sustainable tourism and environmental protection. This special activity not only helps spread knowledge about sustainable development but also creates a network of connections between stakeholders, from government agencies, businesses, to the community.

Vietnam ESG Awards 2024: Marking pioneering efforts

Vietnam ESG Awards 2024 is an important highlight, recognizing businesses and organizations that excel in ESG implementation.

31 entities, including 10 enterprises with comprehensive ESG implementation, along with titles according to the 3 pillars of Environment, Society, and Governance were honored. Many enterprises were honored for their impressive strategies and results in integrating ESG into their business models.

The Vietnam ESG Awards Judging Panel, comprising leading experts, evaluated the applications based on a comprehensive and scientific set of criteria, not only considering financial reports but also specific initiatives and practical impacts on the community. Ms. Pham Minh Huong, Director of Sustainable Development Services (Deloitte Vietnam), emphasized that the judging process is not just about scoring but also about “listening” to the sustainable transformation journey of the business.

Vietnam ESG Awards 2024 is not only a recognition but also a motivation for businesses to continue to be steadfast in ESG. Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT Corporation, shared that the application of ESG has helped businesses build "resistance" to market fluctuations, while creating sustainable value.

Returning in 2025, the Vietnam ESG Forum aims to focus on one of the key factors to promote sustainable development in the new era: science and technology. This direction is in line with the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo, which is to take science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the driving force for development.

Bringing together scientists, business leaders, and policy makers, this year's forum focuses on harnessing the power of technology to solve major challenges.
