(kontumtv.vn) – Sharing their thoughts and aspirations at the 2024 National Farmers' Forum held on October 14, many delegates who are Vietnamese farmers proposed to the President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan support solutions to improve the quality of agricultural production activities.

Many opinions hope that agencies and ministries will cooperate with each other to organize more forums, so that farmers and businesses have the opportunity to meet and understand each other better.

The 9th National Farmers' Forum in 2024 has the message "listen together, share together" focusing on discussing some main contents: Reconstruction and production recovery after natural disasters caused by Typhoon Yagi and recent floods, in which major issues such as support for plants, seeds, agricultural inputs, agricultural insurance support policies; especially the need to create conditions for debt forgiveness, debt extension and new capital loans for households directly affected by recent storms and floods, helping farmers quickly restore production. In addition, there are issues on mechanisms and policies to promote green, sustainable agricultural production, reduce emissions towards the Netzero target, and issues on production planning.

Many farmers are also interested in the mechanism and policies to support and encourage farmers, including good farmers in production and business through the activities of Farmers' Associations at all levels, on continuing to innovate the forms of organization and activities of farmer members such as establishing farmers' clubs, promoting the effectiveness and role of branches and professional associations as the basis and foundation for establishing cooperatives and cooperatives; issues of support, building agricultural product brands, promoting agricultural products on digital platforms.

Sharing at the Forum, Vice President of Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA) Vu Manh Hung, Head of the Working Group Connecting the Agriculture and Fisheries Subcommittee (EuroCham), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hung Nhon Group said that agriculture is the most important economic sector in Vietnam today, having the most direct and strong impact on the stability and development of the country, bringing in large foreign currency revenues, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam in the international market. However, in recent times, our agricultural sector has faced many problems in the development process.

According to the Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association, it is still basically extensive agriculture, managed in the form of small-scale farming, so the risks are high and the efficiency is low, the added value of agricultural products is even lower. The agricultural processing and deep processing industries are slow to develop, mostly small-scale, with outdated technology. Many policies to attract resources to agriculture are not effective. In addition, the agricultural sector has not been linked with industry to form a system to complement and support each other for mutual development.

For businesses operating in the agricultural sector, difficulties will continue to occur in 2024 when facing unusual weather, global geopolitical tensions, and economic recession... All of which are having a huge impact on the production and business activities of businesses, especially agricultural businesses.

From that reality, delegate Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuc - Director of Bagico Investment Joint Stock Company (Bac Giang) said that she really hopes that each ministry and industry will cooperate with each other and need to have a monthly online forum so that many farmers can send their questions and wishes to the right place. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for farmers and businesses to meet and understand each other better. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuc, one of the top quality products of Vietnam is coffee, but currently this specialty is only under the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association. If a specialty coffee association is established, it will be an opportunity to bring the coffee industry further into the world, increasing the position and value of the Vietnamese coffee industry.

Responding to delegates, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Luong Quoc Doan said that organizing more forums is a very good thing. The Farmers’ Union is researching to be able to organize more forums between farmers and businesses, thereby helping to promote the connection between businesses and farmers to achieve higher efficiency.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan supports the organization of many forums and believes that, besides direct forums, there are also online forums and forums via social networks such as Facebook and Zalo, which are very useful to help people regularly connect with authorities at all levels, experts, scientists, and agricultural workers to exchange work and together resolve difficulties and obstacles in the process of production and consumption of products.

Regarding the useful suggestion related to coffee brands, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan acknowledged and said that in the coming time, when I go on business trips to Europe, I will often bring Vietnamese coffee and tea. However, Minister Le Minh Hoan also analyzed that what I find delicious may not be found delicious by people in other countries due to different tastes. That is why we have to export raw products, and they process them to suit their tastes.

“Agricultural products are not simply agricultural products, but must be integrated into food, pharmaceuticals, etc. When they have multiple values, their selling price will certainly increase,” Minister Le Minh Hoan affirmed.
