(BLC) - On May 31, in Muong Mit commune (Than Uyen district), the Than Uyen district Drill Steering Committee organized a drill on storm and flood response and search and rescue in Muong Mit commune to strengthen and improve the ability to respond to situations when natural disasters occur.

Attending and directing the drill were comrades: Le Thi Kim Ngan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of the District People's Committee. Based on the Steering Committee's drill framework, the participating forces completed the mechanism drill, practical drill and handled some arising situations.

In the mechanism drill, the drill force conducted the following contents: Conference of the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue of the commune to assess the situation, adjust and supplement the response plan; conference to assign tasks of organizing coordination, ensuring the implementation of measures to respond to storms and floods and search and rescue.

The practice of responding to storms and floods and search and rescue took place in Muong village, Muong Mit commune with the following training issues: mobilizing local forces to respond to storms and floods, evacuating people to safe places, organizing response and search and rescue. The force strengthened coordination with local forces to organize search and rescue and respond to arising situations. Overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, stabilizing people's lives in the evacuation area... the drill contents were completed.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the drill, comrade Nguyen Van Thang - Chairman of the District People's Committee emphasized that in the coming time, Party committees and authorities at all levels will continue to thoroughly grasp the instructions of superiors, effectively implement natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue; proactively grasp developments to avoid unexpected and passive situations; supplement and adjust plans and solutions to respond to natural disasters closely to practical situations...

The drill took place safely, according to plan and was classified as excellent. The Drill Steering Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 groups and 8 individuals with outstanding achievements in performing the task of storm and flood response and search and rescue drills in Muong Mit commune in 2023.
