Adjusting the Provincial Planning to suit the new development orientation

At the meeting, the representative of the Department of Finance presented the proposed planning adjustment, stating that this adjustment comes from practical requirements and instructions from the Central Government, aiming to facilitate the implementation of strategic projects and anticipate new development trends in the Southeast region.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho chaired the meeting.

Specifically, some key contents are adjusted including: Adding the Ho Tram urban expressway connecting Long Thanh airport, playing a role in directly connecting the province's key tourist area with the international airport, creating a driving force to promote high-quality tourism development in the area; developing the urban system according to the TOD model (a strategic urban development model with the main factor being the urban public transport system; building satellites as multi-functional mixed spaces such as living, working, entertainment and recreation spaces concentrated with high density), orienting the development of satellite cities and residential areas concentrated around the Ho Tram - Long Thanh expressway, linked to public transport points.

Supplement and develop a system of supermarkets and concentrated commercial centers in central areas to serve the needs of residents and tourists, increasing the attractiveness of investment in the service industry; adjust land use and environmental planning, including reviewing and adjusting the land area used for transportation, commerce, and forestry, ensuring compliance with the new planning and sustainable development orientation; update environmental zoning plans, forest protection, and biodiversity.

In his concluding remarks, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho emphasized that the contents of the adjustment of the Provincial Planning this time must ensure feasibility and promptly meet development requirements in the new context.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Finance to closely coordinate with departments and branches, fully absorb comments and contributions, complete documents to submit to competent authorities to adjust the Planning on schedule.
