Session 29-5, VN-Index broke the upward streak

On May 29, the VN-Index decreased slightly after 4 consecutive sessions of increase.

Closing the session on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, VN-Index decreased 0.01 point, stopping at 1,341.86 points; VN30-Index was at 1,431.57 points, down 0.62 points (-0.04%).

In the morning session, the market initially performed positively, at one point increasing by more than 6 points, reaching over 1,348 points - the peak of the session on May 28. However, later, increased selling pressure caused the index representing the floor to slow down and show red.

At the end of morning trading, VN-Index stopped at 1,338.97 points, down 2.9 points.

In the afternoon session, the market decreased for most of the trading time and the decrease slowed down towards the end of the session.

The number of stocks increasing and decreasing in price was equal, 163 and 162 respectively. In the VN30 group, the number of stocks decreasing in price was more than twice the number increasing in price (21 stocks and 8 stocks).

The number of sectors that increased and decreased in points was also equal. In the rising group, hardware and real estate performed the best, increasing by 2% and 1.14% respectively. On the other hand, software, energy, and transportation sectors decreased by more than 1%; health care decreased by more than 4%.

In this session, most of the 10 stocks with the largest capitalization are red, only VHM, TCB, and VPL are green. Of which, VHM is the strongest support for the market, contributing more than 1.1 points.

On the other hand, CTG took away the most points with nearly 0.8 points, followed by FPT (0.43 points).

Liquidity reached 21,000 billion VND. Foreign investors bought more than 2,677 billion VND and sold more than 2,933 billion VND.

The Hanoi Stock Exchange performed better. The total trading value reached over VND1,300 billion. At the end of the session, the HNX-Index stopped at 224.3 points, up 0.74 points (0.33%); the HNX30-Index reached 456.31 points after gaining 2.96 points (0.65%).
