How is treatment at a specialized hospital covered by health insurance?

Ms. San asked, if her sister wants to be treated at the Oncology Department of Hue Central Hospital after January 1, 2025, will she be exempted from 100% health insurance?

Regarding this issue, Vietnam Social Security responds as follows:

Hue Central Hospital is a specialized hospital. On January 1, 2025, the Minister of Health issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BYT, accordingly, in Appendix I issued with the Circular, there is a list of some diseases that are covered by 100% of the benefits within the scope of payment of the Health Insurance Fund when examining and treating at specialized medical examination and treatment facilities (including some cancers).

However, because the information Ms. San provided about her sister's illness and condition was not complete, the Social Insurance Agency did not have enough basis to respond to her. We suggest that her sister go to a medical facility to register for initial health insurance examination and treatment and provide information about her illness for guidance.
