Comprehensive implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious services

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of May 30, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Home Affairs held a meeting with the delegation of People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution of Tra Vinh province. The meeting was an opportunity to acknowledge the great contributions of the people of Tra Vinh in the struggle for national liberation, and at the same time listen, discuss and continue to improve preferential policies for people with meritorious services.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Tra Vinh province, Kim Thi Thanh Nu, said that in recent times, Tra Vinh province has actively implemented tasks related to the organization of the administrative apparatus, in accordance with the policies and orientations of the Central Government and the Government .

The reorganization of commune and district administrative units has been effectively implemented, ensuring the right roadmap and structure. Notably, the whole province has reduced from 104 communes and wards to 41 communes and wards, achieving a reduction rate of 61%. The province's merger with related contents such as organizational structure, payroll, personnel, facilities, etc. is also being vigorously and methodically implemented.

At the same time, the work of gratitude is always one of the tasks that the Party committees, authorities, sectors and people of Tra Vinh pay special attention to. The province currently has more than 65,700 people with revolutionary contributions who have been recognized, honored and are enjoying preferential subsidy policies from the Party and the State. Among them are more than 19,600 martyrs, more than 9,800 wounded and sick soldiers, more than 3,300 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (55 Mothers are still alive), about 9,200 people with revolutionary contributions...

The work of building, renovating and upgrading works to honor martyrs continues to be invested in and cared for. Tra Vinh currently has 9 martyr cemeteries with 11,624 graves, and 97/104 steles inscribed with the names of martyrs. The work of searching, collecting and identifying martyrs' remains is also actively carried out, contributing to the gratitude to those who sacrificed for the Fatherland.

Thanks to the support of the Central Government, the close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the cooperation of the whole society, up to now, Tra Vinh has achieved encouraging results: 100% of families of meritorious people have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living of the local people. Most communes, wards and towns in the province are recognized for doing a good job of caring for the lives of war invalids, martyrs and meritorious people.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dao Ngoc Loi, Director of the Department of Meritorious People (Ministry of Home Affairs) expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the army and people of Tra Vinh in the revolutionary cause. During the war years, the army and people of Tra Vinh did not hesitate to sacrifice their blood and bones to contribute to the common victory of the nation. When the war was over, the people of Tra Vinh continued to demonstrate the spirit of solidarity and consensus, actively contributing to the cause of local socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Dao Ngoc Loi, along with economic development, the Party Committee, authorities at all levels, sectors and people of Tra Vinh province have always focused on, closely followed and paid attention to the work of caring for people with revolutionary contributions. The results of today's meeting and discussion are an important basis for the Ministry of Home Affairs to continue researching and proposing further improvements to preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions.

Mr. Dao Ngoc Loi also requested the Department of Home Affairs of Tra Vinh province to report to competent authorities to continue comprehensively implementing preferential policies for people with revolutionary contributions.

In particular, priority is given to effectively implementing Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, regulating the level of support for new construction, renovation and repair of houses for people with meritorious services in the period of 2023 - 2025. In addition, the province needs to promote the plan to search for, collect martyrs' remains and identify the remains of martyrs with missing information by 2030; coordinate with competent units to promote the implementation of the Project to identify remains of martyrs with missing information (Project 150), implemented with DNA identification and empirical methods.

Along with that, Director Dao Ngoc Loi requested that localities continue to do a good job in social security work, based on the actual situation, organize practical activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025). At the same time, complete and consolidate the administrative apparatus after the rearrangement to ensure effectiveness in implementing policies related to people with meritorious services.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs sends its deep gratitude to the delegation of Meritorious People of Tra Vinh province and also hopes that the delegates will continue to strive, be a valuable example to educate the young generation of the country in general and Tra Vinh province in particular," said Mr. Dao Ngoc Loi.

Present to the President to present gifts to workers on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day

The Government Office has just issued Document No. 4759/VPCP-KGVX dated May 29, 2025, conveying the opinion of Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on submitting to the President to present gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

Accordingly, the Minister of Home Affairs is authorized to submit to the President the matter of giving gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).

The Ministry of Home Affairs is fully responsible for the content and data of the report; ensuring compliance with regulations and preventing negativity and waste during the implementation process.

According to the plan submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the gift level of 600,000 VND/person is given to people with revolutionary contributions who are Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are receiving monthly preferential allowances and individuals who have been awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother before July 28, 2024, but have not completed the procedures to receive monthly preferential allowances; war invalids, people enjoying policies such as war invalids, type B war invalids, sick soldiers with a body injury rate of 81% or more who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals with a body injury rate of 81% or more who are receiving monthly preferential allowances.

Relatives of martyrs who are receiving monthly survivor allowance; relatives of two or more martyrs who are receiving monthly survivor allowance will also receive a gift of 600,000 VND.

Gift level of 300,000 VND/person given to people with revolutionary contributions who are war invalids, people enjoying policies like war invalids, war invalids of type B, sick soldiers with a body injury rate of 80% or less who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; war invalids who are receiving labor loss allowances; resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals with a body injury rate of 80% or less who are receiving monthly preferential allowances.

Representatives of martyrs' relatives; martyr worshipers (in case the martyrs have no relatives) will receive a gift of 300,000 VND.

Nationwide, there are 1,576,715 meritorious people eligible for gifts at the above two levels, with a total budget of 480,841,800 thousand VND. This budget has been arranged in the State Budget plan for 2025.
