Tonight (May 31), on the east bank of the Han River, the opening ceremony of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 with the theme "Da Nang - New Era" was organized by the People's Committee of Da Nang City with the support of Sun Group Corporation. Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang, leaders of several central ministries, branches, Military Region 5, provinces and cities in the country and international guests attended the event. The first two teams to perform on the opening night were host Da Nang (Vietnam 1) and defending champion Finland.

A sudden light rain that fell late this afternoon cooled the air in Da Nang city on the opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025 after several hot days. The entire grandstand with more than 12,000 seats was packed with spectators who came to watch very early.

Outside the stands, at Thuan Phuoc Bridge, Han River Swing Bridge, high-rise buildings, hotels, and shops on both sides of the Han River, many people and tourists came to book seats and find suitable positions to watch the fireworks display.

The 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025) with the theme "Da Nang - New Era" carries the message of marking the 50-year journey of integration and development, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day.

The opening night theme of “Cultural Essence” officially opens a series of 6 fireworks displays lasting from May 21 to July 12, 2025, marking the longest and most magnificent festival season in the 15-year history of DIFF.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City affirmed: "Da Nang City is facing a new development opportunity with a larger space and greater resources and potential. The opening night was marked by the performances of the host team Da Nang (Vietnam 1) and the defending champion Finland. The host team Da Nang (Vietnam 1) performed with the theme “Cultural Essence”. During the 20-minute performance with more than 5,000 fireworks of all kinds, the host team Da Nang displayed more than 100 brilliant and diverse effects, making the stands on the Han River burst with emotion.

The home team's performance was like a magnificent symphony of light, sending a spirited greeting to the people and visitors on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day.

The emotional climax is when the fireworks create the Marble Mountains appearing in the night sky, blending with the ocean waves, as if sending a message of connection and identity of the city by the ocean.

Competing with host team Da Nang, defending champion Finland sent a message of connecting the nation's cultural roots in the performance "Northern Lights" inspired by the Northern European aurora phenomenon.

Different from the bright, warm and magnificent performance of the host team from the tropics, the “Nordic Lights” performance of the Finnish team brought a completely different atmosphere, deep and intense like the Nordic spirit itself.

Opening with vibrant pop rock melodies telling the story of a nation living between the sea and ice, from thousands of small islands. The Finnish team suddenly increased the drama when switching to a series of high-altitude artillery shots. The whole sky seemed to light up with bright green, purple and pink fireworks, flashing like the aurora borealis, a magical natural phenomenon of Northern Europe.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, from Vinh city, Nghe An province, went to see the fireworks with her family and expressed her excitement: “I came early to see the organization and the atmosphere before the fireworks. Everyone came very early to watch. Tonight’s fireworks display is a very satisfying performance for everyone to watch. Everyone is excited.”

On the opening night, the audience also enjoyed a unique art space. For the first time at a fireworks festival, large-scale outdoor AR virtual reality technology, on a huge experience area of ​​600,000m² with about 10 million pixels. Just by holding the phone up to the sky, the audience can admire the Cham towers, inspired by the world's largest Cham Sculpture Museum in Da Nang, or admire the graceful Cham dances, the image of Whales swimming in the night sky of Da Nang...

Audiences coming to the opening ceremony of DIFF this year will also enjoy a unique art space performed by famous artists such as Tung Duong, singer Kieu Anh, Thu Hang... Night 2 of the 2025 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival will take place on June 7 with performances by the Vietnam 2 and Poland fireworks teams.
