VIAGS staff who made offensive statements on social media while serving wheelchair customers have been suspended.
Regarding the offensive statement of an employee of Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) when serving wheelchair passengers on his personal Facebook page, the leader of VIAGS admitted that the content was posted by the company's THHT employee.
VIAGS leaders affirmed that serving people with disabilities or limited mobility is a regular service activity of the company. Illustrative photo . |
However, according to VIAGS, this is entirely an individual's behavior, posted by him on his own initiative and does not represent VIAGS' principles and motto for serving passengers.
“We have specific regulations on social media statements related to the company’s image and activities for employees. Employees who make statements on social media, use content and images related to VIAGS, and affect VIAGS’s reputation will be disciplined and strictly handled according to the company’s labor regulations,” said the VIAGS leader, affirming that the THHT employee has been suspended from work and disciplinary action will be considered according to the company’s regulations.
“We apologize to the community because our staff had an incorrect attitude and perception about passenger service, leading to offensive and socially inappropriate statements,” said the VIAGS leader, adding: Serving people with disabilities or limited mobility is a regular service activity of VIAGS. The company always has adequate human resources, equipment and facilities to serve, and regularly trains, coaches and supervises staff on service procedures and skills.
Previously, many Facebook users expressed their indignation when reading information circulating on this social network about a VIAGS passenger service staff posting a status with content that was derogatory and belittling to people with disabilities: "What, is there a wheelchair convention today or something? Every morning there are 4-5 wheelchair passengers, the service staff is so tired that they can't even go to the toilet...".
Many Facebook users have expressed their disagreement and condemned the act of disparaging people with disabilities. This status has now been hidden from the owner's personal page.
Good books about aviation
The Great Air Race - John Lancaster tells the story of the people who risked their lives so that today we can pack our bags and fly from country to country.
In the book, the author introduces readers to scenes that are unfamiliar to modern-day flying. The planes participating in the race have no brakes or parachutes. Dramatic descriptions such as “a sheet of fire rolling behind the engine” appear in dozens of paragraphs throughout the book.
