On the afternoon of July 25, the working delegation of the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Ninh province, led by Mr. Dang Ngoc Tao - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Home Affairs, visited Thoi Thuan commune (Vinh Long province) to visit and present gifts on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
Tay Ninh delegation visited the traditional stele in Thua Long hamlet (Thoi Thuan commune - Vinh Long province). |
It is known that after the Mau Than campaign in 1968, the revolutionary base area of Long An was swept by the enemy, and the armed forces could not hold on. Long An Military Medical Center had to build a facility outside the area to care for wounded soldiers. In February 1970, the Provincial Party Committee and Long An Military Medical Center chose Thua Duc Commune, Binh Dai District (now Thoi Thuan Commune, Vinh Long Province) as a base to treat more than 100 wounded soldiers.
The local Party Committee and people wholeheartedly cared for and nurtured many wounded soldiers so they could recover their health and return to Long An to continue fighting. The remaining 13 seriously wounded soldiers remained and were cared for by the people of Thua Duc until the day the South was completely liberated.
Representatives of the Tay Ninh delegation presented gifts to families that had contributed to raising cadres and wounded soldiers during the resistance war against the US to save the country. |
With that noble gesture and tradition, the Party Committee, government and people of Long An province (now Tay Ninh province) always remember, the next generations always cherish, preserve and promote. In 2017, the Long An Provincial Party Committee (old) coordinated with the locality to build a Traditional Stele located in Thua Long hamlet (Thoi Thuan commune, Vinh Long province) and was recognized as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic.
On this occasion, the Tay Ninh delegation kindly visited and gave gifts to 25 families who had contributed to raising and caring for cadres and wounded soldiers of the province during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
